Exmouth - Cheap car hire options?

Hey guys, guessing this is in the wrong section but thought I'd give it a shot here since it's the most active.

I'm lucky enough to be flying up to Exmouth for roughly a week at the beginning of April, I've also managed to screw the small budget I had for the trip thanks to an unforseen change in my work and living arrangements and booking the accommodation way to late (basically I'm broke!).

I did a quick search of the forum but didn't see anything that was recent or relevant enough.

So my big question is does anyone know of, or can point me in the right direction to locate a cheap (and I mean cheap) rental/hire/loan car?

I've checked all the ones offered by the companies at the airport and while their rates aren't too bad they'll put a decent dent in the bait and beer budget. Think my rod tube will end up being longer than some of those cars available. Don't have any plans for offroading will most likely just be trying spots between the marina/town to oysters at the furthest so just after something reliable that wont break down and can get me from A to B for a week.

Cheers for any help

(Slightly unrelated but do people usually just make their own rod tubes out of the larger stormwater pipe rather than having to carry and pay baggage fees on multiple regular rod tube?)

Thanks guys

Last time I was there Exmouth Boat Hire had a bunky 100 series cruiser you could hire for about $100 a day. Even though you didn't have offroading planned, it's always good to have the option if you hear about a secret spot..

Been a few years since I hired a car there but Allens car hire had some older models pretty cheap.
