Exmouth /Dampier in september?

 Hi fellow tragics,

Got 3 weeks holidays in september this year.

Have read a few older posts on going fishing and boating up north but it seems i may have missed the best time due to the wind??

What do you all reckon?

Am I wasting my time and effort towing my boat up at that time of year or is it still ok?

Would love to explore the islands in the archipelago off dampier but boat is only a 5.65 ocean whaler c/c.

Any advice much appreciated.

Cheers!!

 Missed the best wind period

Missed the best wind period unfortunately but because of all the islands around dampier you are able to hide and still have fun catching fish

Still pick your days obviously, but there's a lot of hidey holes to go in when it's a bit breezy, and incredible fishing out on the edges and out wide when it's good

If you make it up here (dampier/karratha) send me a message and I'll give you some spots depending on what you're chasing :)

Awesome mad dog! Thx for that offer.

Even better when I'm up there send me the coordinates of your favourite watering hole and I'll shout you a beer while you give me the good oil ;-)

Btw are there any nice holiday places to stay in dampier or is all the accomodation in karratha?

 No worries mate :)

Dampier has the mermaid hotel, no idea what it's like, karratha has a few caravan parks and one nice resort sort of thing (no idea on costs though)

If you get really stuck and desperate let me know.always happy to have visitors haha

 Mermaid has accomodation

Thu, 2017-06-01 08:02

Mermaid has accomodation units that have all been returned recently.

Hit me up if you get to Karratha. I'm about to be relocated and will be slipping out a fair bit when the weather lines up.

End of August/Start of September will still be fairly cool and will be good weather. You will miss the easterlies and the westerlies dont crank up until later in the month, this time and April is when I used to organize extended trips as the weather is spot on.

 Cheers guys!! Extremely generous!!

Was almost ready to cancel but you've given me hope!!

I worked up at panna for a while and fell in love with Dampier. Swore I'd return one day with a boat.

Will be bringing the minister for War, Finance and Recreation so as much as id be happy to bunk in maddog shes looking for something private. Cheers anyway!!

Looking to be in the area 1st week in sept so I'll flick you guys a pm and if we get a chance, love to shout the locals a beer or 3 in exchange for some local knowledge.

Always a better holiday when you can make a few new friends.
