Exmouth July

Well, last year when we were up there queenies and jacks in July in the marina after the rain. Spangled emperor from the tip of the rock wall out to the marker pole and an old lady pulled up a monster estuary cod on a handline that had taken her grandsons 5 rigs. Lol. :)

As ya know, we'll be up there about the same time, and like you, I plan on doing quite a bit of shore based light tackle stuff too. Hadn't considered fishing the marina, after reading Adams reply, i just might...... Of course we'll be chasing the big guys out wide, but i've got a shiteload of sp's that are gonna get swum as often as possible.... Might even hook up with ya at some stage for a shore bash(read: p1ss up........ ;-))

I remember watching Thipthorp, Palumbo, and Correia on FWA doin the light tackle, shore based thing in Exxy a couple of seasons ago, i've always wanted to replicate it, jeeeez it looked fun...

We saw some awesome baitballs moving up and along the marina wall and sounded out the boating channel marker at the end of the groyne and there was quiet a bit of activity on the bottom with rubblely ground, didn't bother fishing it from the boat, but if your going to be rock hopping, then it would probably be worth the mission for some spanglies. There were mangrove jacks in the marina too last year. Not sure what this year will have, but I look foward to being reliably informed. :)))

It was getting pretty big last year and the outer rockwall was pretty solid. Scott from EGFC has posted up a few pics of the marina in March, heres the link to his gallery. (first three photos)

oh and one for the record,

oh and one for the record, exmouth marina rocks the kazbah, caught almost every species imaginable in there inc Gts, cuda , emporers, cods , mackeral etc.

fished around exxy before with the light gear but for somewhere to spend hung over mornings, exxy marina is the go!
