A few fish despite awful conditions
Bloody horrible conditions early this morning, easterly whipping up a sharp chop. After seeing a bit of nice bottom, we turned into the wind and took a nice greenie over the front of the Whaler......woke everyone up, so we headed in closer to Rotto!
Lots of bait with some nice red blobs around them giving us some pretty exciting sounder shots, and given it was too rough early to jig, we threw the lures in and had a troll in absolute flat mud bottom that normally would not even hold blowies, but the combo of bait and warm water provided fish you would not expect in this sort of area and depth.
After a nice first run, Langa landed the YFT in quick time.....cant get away from these things!!! I was happy to repay Langa for several YFT have got on his boat. A few stripies followed to keep us amused until the wind died down.
Landed a heap of dhuies, nothing that large, Chrisp doing most of the damage although I pipped him for the biggest, kept 2 plus a nice flattie and then a good sambo had me working on PE2.
Nice run home early with a few coldies to beat the rush at the ramp.

No rhyme or reason on lure
No rhyme or reason on lure choice for yellow fin tuna. Over the past 6 weeks we have landed them on everything except coke cans. If your in the right spot, lure choice is irrellevant from what we can work out.

When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:
n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or
n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.
