Submitted by dakka on Fri, 2016-07-29 15:16
Over the last couple of months I have been slowly getting my boat ready and set up for me to be comfortable out on the water, I have added a no feed back helm and new steering cable, new Windows, new canopy with clears to keep nice and dry, furuno 582l sounder and new tranny a bait board and set up a 10 watt solar charger to keep dual batteries topped up, have put on all new lights and rewired throughout with a new switch panel new rollers on trailer now it is time to go and have some fun finding some new ground

Yours looks very similar to a voyager LTD
a very capable offshore boat for its size. Ive been slowly fitting a few things on mine as well getting her ready for summer just put in full floatation in hull, along transom and gunwhales. Whats a "no feed back" helm? do you mean there will be no movement to the steering wheel if you let go of it while motoring along?

Yep
thats correct beeroclock no movement when you let go of steering wheel the only downside is you can not turn motor by hand if you are working on it

Now for the four stroke motor..
Go on, you know you want to...and yes, NFB helm is great, just being able to let go of the helm at any speed and have it run straight. Give your arms a rest on a calm day, or keep it straight with no-one on the wheel while running the spread out. Cheap, brilliant upgrade.

No worries dave
it will certainly fix your problem as mine pulled to the right as well but not any more, speak to the guys at chsmith marine they are in Melbourne there are different helms for different size motors you will have to give them the number of your current helm it was a couple of hundred dollars sent over but for me it was totally worth it, you maybe able to use your existing cable, I only got a new one because old one seized up on me check there website out cheers darryl

Hi Dakka, I have a Voyager
Hi Dakka,
I have a Voyager LTD, very similar to your vessel, and am looking to replace the windscreen and install the same frame, launcher and clears. Would you be able to suggest where to have the work done and an approximate cost? PM if you prefer. You boat looks sensational! Very functional upgrades. Cheers!
