New Nissan Navara D23

Does anyone here own or test driven the new navara, They are a nice looking rig, and 3500t towing capacity! But jesus on paper they are not so impressive. 2.3ltr T, 120kw, 405nm ??? that puts it at the bottom of its class, even the past generation of 4x4 utes.

Figures dont mean everything so would be great to hear from someone who has driven or towed with one

Cheers

Not uncommon for them to use

Sat, 2016-07-30 06:06

Not uncommon for them to use oil (not all of them)... mine is 2014, purchased with 20km on the clock and has used oil from the start. I went to sharkbay in april this year and after doing 4500km I had to put in 2.3lt of oil when I got back (put in 1.5lt before I left, and I wasn't towing anything for the sharkbay trip). Holden are dancing around the problem and are not much help! They put in a longer dipstick and told me you should see oil on the dipstick now... wtf? They even give out 2lt of oil to carry in the car with each service! Mate has one and same oil issues, has had 2 turbos replaced and a rear diff. They also have a massive turbo lag of upto 3-4 seconds if you need to put your foot down from a standing start.

Like I said some people have them and have had no issues &love them, but from my personal experience and many others I've spoken to they are rubbish.

Forgot to mention my mates one has caught fire twice.

If you hastle them enough they will come to the party.

Happy with my 2011 Colorado (touch wood). Has done 42k now with a few trips north, one towing a boat to Exmouth & the other to steep point towing a camper.

I have had no oil issues but thats not to say others havn't.

Maybe there is a difference between models, mine has the Isuzu motor.

Good luck & keep at em....

yup mine did a rear diff at 75,000km had 2 intercooler pipes crack/split and required a tow back to the dealer. and now it has a coolant leak right at the back of the engine. it only has 85,000km on the clock

averaged 23ltr/100km towing the boat up to coral bay and back

Driven one

Sat, 2016-07-30 09:04

yeah I drove one while my lux was getting serviced. It was brand new, and power was ok (my D4D lux is better though), but the bonnet on the navara is  completely Fucked... It collects water/rain on the bonnet near the windscreen, and then sprays the windscreen badly (worse than rain) when driving.

Thanks Scotto, sounds like a major design issue there. Probably says alot about how much testing these vehcles actually have before being run into production. Same with the colorado. Think i'll just grab a hilux like every other man and his dog, its for a good reason.
