Find it amusing

Firstly - Let me make this very clear, Im not having a go at anyone or any single person, and I absolutely encourage everyone putting up photos of their pride and joy, whether it be tackle or catches, this is simply an observation I have that i find amusing...

So...does anyone else think its funny that someone puts a photo up of a decent fish and he might get, well lets say on average 4-8 comments.... someone puts up a photo of a shit load of lures, jigs or tackle and the comments sky rocket

Reckon its a good example of the old saying about lures catching more fisherman than fish

Ha haa good point.  I reckon you are right

I reckon for a lot of people fishing is almost more about gear than fish.  not having a go at anyone either, it is your own prerogative what you do, i just find it funny.

ha ha yeah i agree i myself go out fishing all the time and catch  a few fish and have some good stories to tell but i generally dont put pictures or stories etc unless its something special!

but at the same time i like seeing and reading about other peoples catches/stories no matter how small or big they are or insignificant it might be,

Anyway on that note Im just preparing for the Dampier bill fish shoot out! its starts tomorrow and the weather is looking shit (20 knot winds) ill let you know how i go regardless of what we catch and ill see how many replies i get.

if that fails ill put up a post of all the lures and rods i used. lol

20 knots aint too bad.  Was about 35 knots a few years ago.

This way we thin out a the competition a bit.  By day 2, half of the boats will probably choose squidding over billfish

I don't get out much as a non boat owner (and as a new father) and often compensate by buying gear.  Love bling.  I also think lures are designed to catch fishermen.  I am a confessed tackle tragic.

Dead right

Sat, 2012-06-02 12:38

You're dead right on that. I've never seen a fish walk in to a tackle shop with a fist full of dollars and buy a lure or two so they must be designed to catch anglers with bulging pockets.

My tackle box has seen heaps of lures that haven't even had a fish bite on them after many years trying with them and some that never fail but I still keep buying these things in the hope that another one will do the trick.
