Same as any boat
Just have to mount the trany without holing the boat, and make a support Bracket or somewhere to display it. If Jaks can do it, a dingy is less trouble.

My trany is mounted with Silastik. The head unit is fixed to a rod holder rail clamp. It's a bit exposed but Garmin say it can be totally submerged for 1/2hr before any damage.
Don't worry too much if it cops some spray.

just gone through this.
I just put a raymarine A70D in my new little dinghy on the weekend just gone. perfect little split combo (sounder plotter) for a 4.2m dinghy I reckon. the unit is also completely waterproof, so a bit of water wont harm it, but i mounted it just underneath the side of the boat to keep it out of spray.
I had to make an aliminium bracket for it to sit on, but that was no real drama to knock up in the shed. i havent tested out the sounder yet, but Im sure the transducer placement is fine.
i'll try load some pics when i get home.

Portable sounder
Many years ago i bought a Lowrance portable sounder. It worked great ( not hi tech tho ) and used battery's or you could plug into your 12v supply.
The transducer stuck on the transom with a suction cup. It actualy worked very well and only came off at high speeds.
It did cost a bit more ,but if i needed another one i think i would just make a mount for the unit and get a good suction cup from a glass fitter for the transducer.
It was a very handy sounder, i could put it on any tinny and move it around to veiw it at any angle.

Yep, thats what we did with
Yep, thats what we did with ours on the tinny. Suction cupped the transducer on. However, we fix the Sounder to the seat and used a small motorbike battery and it served us well.

Mount it in a little perspex
Mount it in a little perspex box on your seat to keep it dry, and allow enough room for a small 12v battery. Just rip out battery after ecery couple of trips to charg it..jobs on
