Fish of a life time

Hi guys,

After many sightings and missed chances i managed to spear my first Pink Snapper on the weekend a very very wary and flighty fish underwater.Weighed it on certified scales it went 9.485kgs and 94cms

got him down here in Albany on a shore dive :)

Poddy: i have seen all my pinks on the same chunk of reef as this one was shot ins only around 6 -8ms deep witch makes it hard to sneak up on them but with plenty on burly they can some times let there guard down for a second or two you have to be quick :s

very, very nice fish deacon. those big ones take ages to approach. usually by the time you see them, they are already scurrying away from you, so you've done well mate. i got one around that size a little while ago at DHI. took me about 20 mins to con.  i reckon i actually know exactly where you are too

Big Pinky, shore dive, shallow???

Wed, 2011-03-09 09:25

What a ripper, all the above factors make it very very hard.

in the younger days with scuba and a gun hardly ever came anywhere near any. They get spooked by the bubbles. Tried free diving to them but didnt have the lung capacity, and that is despite running marathons. Underwater something changes. I tried and tried to no avail, so you can imagine how stoked I would be with that one. Just awesome.
