FISHBROOME?
Submitted by chriso 308 on Thu, 2011-05-12 15:57
I'm heading up to broome in a couple of weeks and i have booked a charter with fishbroome to take us reef fishing.
I only picked them because I have seen them on iFISH , Mark Berg ,ET and a couple of other shows.
are they the pick of the charters?
do i take my own gear?
I've been reading a lot of Exmouth charter horror stories of hand lines and shit food and morons that no less than me about fishing !
I'm hoping these guys aren't like that?
does anyone have anything to put my mind at ease?

Relax mate
they know what they're doing. Went creek fishing with them and although it was basic fishing I had a good time and enjoyed using their quality gear. The guide was great. I wouldn't recommend the creek fishing for experienced fishos but reef fishing would be more worthwhile. Handline stories tend to be created by rival companies in my experience. You might want to find out if there are any sailfish around and jump on a pricey gameboat whist you're there too. Enjoy.
Fishin for a feed and fun.

explanation....
was on a couple of Broome charters many years ago that would refer to other Broome charter companies as using handlines. After also going on the supposed handline charters I realised it was BS.
I haven't read the posts about Exmouth.

Fishbroome run a pretty good operation and only quality tackle is used even for bottom bouncing. Absolute are very good operators also.

just read the exxie post...
that sucks balls. Have always heard good things about Mahi Mahi in Coral Bay though.
Does anyone know if the hire boat situation in Exmouth has improved? ie. the self-drive ones.
Cheers

When I went on Mahi Mahi they had handlines! Mind you they were rather large, bolted to the gunnels and had handles...
They did have tiagras for trolling (or inters, i forget), but apart from that, didnt see any other reels apart from my own.
