Fishing Albany

Hey fellas, just wondering what the go is when fishing down south. I'm off to albany in a weeks time and iv never fished there before, if any of you guys are willing to suggest any decent spots that would be muchly appreciated.

Iv done of plenty of landbased fishing off the beaches in Gero (where i used to live) and the surrounding area, catching big tailor and mulloway. Just wonderng if theres any specific differenes with the colder water and what to look for or if there are any good spots worth trying. :)

been a long time since i was down there but the town jetty was always good for the bread and butter stuff. Emu point channel you can get the odd big skippy and other species. you could also head to the salmon holes but that is not the safest place to fish

Chaynes beach east of albany

Chaynes beach east of albany if you have a 4wd. Safer place to fish (its a beach). Plenty of salmon, occasional shark/mulloway, skippy, herring, etc.

if you're lucky....

the salmon schools rarely come in close enough to the beach down there. they tend not to go into the shallows, although i have seen a couple of good ones caught from boats out towards the point when the winds allow.

plus when a school does come in from deep, the pros shoot out in their little jet boats and net the whole lot anyway.  they dont leave many for the recs. 8(

Whenever Ive been down there

Whenever Ive been down there I have always caught salmon. Not in huge proportions but always there. Must be lucky. But I can also cast all the way out to the deeper water with a twisty.

Nanarup

Nanarup Beach East of Albany if you have a 4WD mate. Otherwise you can head to

Mutton Bird Island. You have a good array of fishing from Surf, Rock (quite safe if you stay within proximity of the Island) and you can fish the channel. Salmon hold up in the little bay to the East of the Island.

Ok, thanks guys. So salmon seem like the most likely species? You use the same technique for tailor right?
