Fishing in Albany

Hi All,

Will be making our way down to Albany this weekend and would like to know of any good fishing spots? What can you catch there and what gear to use? Will be staying at Emu Beach.

Any info would be great, thanks!

Headin down there this weekend too, looking like we might have picked a good one too!

What fish are you wanting to catch? The channel there at Emu point is good for KG whiting, skippy, herring and bream. Or head out to any of the beaches either side of town for a chance of a salmon! You got a 4wd?

The channel between Oyster harbour and ocean (as goodz said) is worth a try never know what you could land, just check tide it fair rips through there. there's a jetty at the other end of Middleton beach for none serious fishers, or various locations along rocks from that jetty through to Main harbour (Princess harbour) where there is a couple of jetties open to the public. If you drive around Princess harbour toward whaling station you can turn off toward camp Quaranup a beach or two out that way you don't need 4WD, Salmon Holes are out that way also a couple of beaches near whaling station will need to walk to access these spots. The Sand Patch is along the road that passes the regional prison be prepared for a climb up a steep hill, Keep heading further west toward Denmark on the Lower Denmark road you'll be able to get to Mutton Bird Island, Torbay Inlet, Cosy Corner check map for more. East of Albany head toward Lower King (Nanuarup) the lower king bridge is where you could get onto Blue nosed bream, The Kalgan river is the next one you'll cross try up there for black bream, a turn to the right will come up next pointing to ward Ledge Beach (no 4WD access) and Gull rock/beach 4wd access to beach, there is a 4wd track to the left a few K's before end a copule more beaches along that part of the coast awesome view. Nanuarup is the next beach a easy walk out and can drive 4WD to the left well worth a try. Check map for beaches further west i.e. Betty's beach, Chennyes beach, Normans beach. This should keep ya busy,        Good Luck and have a great trip. As for types of fish, Salmon, hezzas, silver bream, skippy, possible kingies, sharks, flat head

Fished the area with a few

Mon, 2012-07-23 14:29

Fished the area with a few others on the weekend.

Some really good skippy coming from down Bremer way, Foster and Reef beaches.

Bluff Creek had lots of small salmon to 50cm with a few big one thrown in and a sprinkling of herring and skippy.

Gordons and Nanerup fished well with salmon, taylor and herring.

Looks like another good weekend coming so I might head out again. PM me later if you like and I might be able to show you some spots.
