gday fellas,
im heading off to Gnaraloo station in a few weeks for a week and havnt been able to find much in the way of info about the fishing there. Does anyone know if id be able to do much up there with a dinghy with a 15hp motor? alternatively, i could take the 6.6m sportscab but would this be launchable? also, is there any good fishing off the beaches at 3 mile beach? wot sort of fish would i be able to target landbased, both on light gear and heavy? im looking forward to doing a bit of soft plastic fishing there. sorry about all the questions, but any info would be much appreciated
Cheers

Fishing Gnaraloo
Hi Pup we were up at gnaraloo at the end of august. I guess its wot ever you feel comfortable about towing up there. If ya 6.6m sportscab is ali i wouldnt hesitate dragging it up the track as long as you do your homework on ur trailor. Make sure everything is tight & where possible double up on nuts preferably with nylocks. The station have supplied heavy duty launching ladders down at the bay for beach launching wich makes it super easy, just dont forget to pull them out of the water when ya finished using them. Also the bigger boat will give you more options to fish especially if the swell or the winds come up. I think you would be pretty restricted to fishing inside the reef with the dinghy at this time of the year, not that it is a bad option, lots of reef & bommies to chase spanglies & baldies. As for beach fishing maybe someone else could help ya out with that but looking at the fantastic coast up there i would say you wouldnt hav a problem catchin fish anywhere from the station south to the bluff. Good luck & i hope u enjoy it as much as we do. Rob
Cheers & Stay safe

Pup , dont know if you been there before, look back on page 21 and i posted pictures of the track in to give you some idea, i would go the bigger rig and drive to what you thinks right, fishing spots, dont know what sort of territory and ground your expecting but its fairly flat ground with flat coral section and weed grass banks , hit the 50 to 60 mark and only fish where the sounder shows fish or schools of bait fish on the bottom, there are some reef breaks not far out and the macks hang around them. one tip if the swell gets up near 5 mts take the surf board out.
fuel supplies , we take our own up now after a bad run at the station but they can order 200 lt drums for you $ 1.80 lt. PM if you want any more info if i can help and enjoy
