Fishing Honeymoon

Ok need advice on a good honeymoon destination and one where I can get amongst the fish! I played my reverse psych card well and offered to take her to Europe skiing which she rebuffed with wishes of tropical islands... bingo!
I am keen to get out on a few charters jigging for the likes of dogtooth etc. and will be planning around March next year. She is a reasonably keen fish-o herself so will probablt get amongst it for a bit, but will be happiest sipping cocktails on the beach. So I have to keep that in mind if I stand any chance putting some of that honey into moon

Keen to get outside of oz, we tend to spend a fair bit of time together or seperately getting around our beautiful land. Will certainly keep that ace up the sleeve for a holiday though cheers

watched a series of ifish on the weekend it was a repeat but mate what a ripper of a place. They were at Vanuatu chasin the dog tooth, they were pullin out wahoos, big doggys, sharks and some other sh!t, but man what a place to fish. island looked prestine as well.....
definetly put that joint on ya list.

Thats where we went for our honeymoon 18 years ago. Go now while it is still above water you won't regret it. Awesome place for sure.

Dirk Hartog Island
I took my wife up to shark bay for 2 nights at Nanga then 5 nights on Dirk Hartog and 2 nights in Denham. It wasn't exactly 5 star accomodation but more than comfortable. We had 3 of the 5 nights on DHI all to ourselves. We flew over in a small plane, scored a free helicopter ride whilst we were over there and got a really fast navy style boat back to Denham. It was an unforgettable honeymoon. The good thing is, all your food and drinks are taken care of and Kieran and the crew go out of their way to make you happy. Unfortunately his boat had just broken down when we got their and was in for repairs so he took us out on the barge instead. We caught plenty of pinkies, bluebone, norwest snapper etc. He has an awesome big cat up there now. Plenty of whiting, flathead and sharks from the shore about 10 meters from your door too.
I fish for the future - Cause I can't bloody catch anything!

We did not do an fishing over there but there are plenty of other things to check out. Diving is second to none and its well worth going to Mt Yasur, the active volcano on Tanna island.
Ifish have presented a few epsiodes on Vanuatu lately and it looked amazing for it!

Brilliant location - good charters available for sails and other pelagics and in March even a chance at barra in dampier creek (also charter) or threadies in the other creek plus all sorts of great honeymoon style 5 star accom.

Awesome advice there dudes, the missus said today that she is keen on fiji and checked some pricing for charters which was questionable.
Going to look into Vanuatu, seems to be the biz

Maldives is a bit tricky,
Because there are a lot of no fishing zones around the atolls espcially land based fishing but do your research im sure you can find a chater out there that will be able to take you to the right spots.

We went to Vanuatu for our honeymoon- the missus isn't too keen on fishing so i booked a day spa for her and then went gamefishing all day. It was pretty quiet that day, few small tuna etc and then when i wasn't on strike a 150kg Blue marlin nailed one of the skirts. The bloke landed the fish so it was a very good day. We went on a small boat trip around one of the islands with the locals- there were small sailfish free-jumping only couple of hundred meters off shore. Definetly worth a look- it would be awesome to have your own boat over there. Recommend Irririki Island Resort!

bit late but I'll add my
bit late but I'll add my support for Vanuatu. Cheap to fly to with Virgin Blue and reasonable accom and food prices. Another option might be a cruise to the South Pacific, I did one to Vanuatu, New Cal etc and it was awesome. If you can do a one way cruise, stay on and fly home- that would be the best of both worlds.
