fishing options in port hedland

hi all
im looking into a trip to hedland and was wondering,,,,,
what are the fishing options there.
is the river fishing ok.
how far do you need to go in the ocean to get into decent ground etc etc
my boats 17ft glass,is it suitable for up there.

mate creek fishing up this way is pretty good. you can expect barra, jacks, black jews, threadies and all the usual northern species. Bluewater stuff starts from about 10 miles out mate. Have a look at some charts and i am sure you will find a few spots. On top of that you could always troll the channel markers or the back of a fewer closer islands for pelagics and trout

17ft Glass is fine for up here. Exactly what I run actually. Plenty of options depending on what your into.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?
