if i was u i would go for a TLD 15 cheaper and more widely used. JMO more line intake to, one down side if ur begining is that u have to put the line on evenly but thumb but its easy to pick up.

Charter Special
Have 2 charter specials and cannot fault them, use them for bottom bouncing and trolling . They handle everything put to them with ease.
Have got other reels without the level wind and found that if you are not on the ball you can make a real mess when using them while night fishing.

i would go without the level
i would go without the level wind, they tend to stuff up at the wrong time and also less working parts to worry about

go a tld 25
I use mine for bottom bouncing and trolling... RUn 30 lb fire line.... and a long leader when trolling...
Handles all sorts fish and still easy enough to use and i fish up to 110m water with it.

personalise a charter
personalise a charter special, smoother and longer lasting than the tld 15's, i have both the 2000l and 1000l with the level wind removed and they are amazing reels, not hard to remove the level wind either, and no it doesnt comprimise the reel at all, as long as you clean after use, IMO okuma reels are noisey and rough. thats IMO people

The TLD15 is a better pick
The TLD15 is a better pick for trolling and bottom fishing. Having no levelwind will save on wear-n-tear to the line & maintenance.
