Fishwatch Works!
Fishwatch (1800 815 507) works!
The boys and I spotted some illegal crabs being caught at Claremont Jetty last night.
Watched in disgust for a hour or so thinking I should say "hey put them back" - then they called their mates (Food Hall must close at 9.00pm)
So now there is 8 of them pinching under size blue swimmers
Called Fishwatch at 9.20pm Fisheries Officers on site 9.40pm.
Bet they don't have crab patties tonight!
The chap on the phone said there is now 12 officers 24/7 on call around WA who can attend to the public tip offs
If you ever see people not following the fishing rules call 1800 815 507 Fishwatch WA
my past experiences with Fishwatch have been similar and just as effective.
Kids were impressed with action! And they caught a heap of blowies!

Mobile patrols
There are mobile fisheries compliance people cruising the metro now.
very visual as I have seen them at Woodies, North Mole, Mandurah and Mindarie South Wall over the last 4-5 months
There is also whispers of Helicopters being used in the north for patrols so fishers concerns about lack of compliance has been heard.
You do the wrong thing and flaunt the rules......you will get caught!
Now we just want to see the Name and Shame file brought back so these sods can be publically humiliated.

Great news
I hope they make their way down to the Busso jetty and the SW over the busy months and keep an eye on the 100's of tourists that fill their buckets and Iceboxes.

It was good to see Fisheries
It was good to see Fisheries up our way last year nabbing the toads who were taking undersize Tailor. There's no need for it. Plenty of sized fish around.
Love the West!

saw some other guys in front
saw some other guys in front of tawarri the other night, catching undersize tailor
in front of the tawarri restaurant seems a popular spot for guys going after undersize tailor as it never seems to get checked, even on the fri/sat nights
contacted fishwatch about the traps, but they couldnt get there that night.....

well, a thumbs up to
well, a thumbs up to fisheries !!
they came down the the swan river foreshore along nedlands a couple of times and checked out quite a few people, so hopefully the message about bag limits and undersize fish has gotten around to some of the worst offenders !
one of my neighbours was around there for a walk and even saw the fisheries in action !!
