Fishwrecked Fish Comp?!?

Hi all just wondering if we are going to have a fishwrecked comp anytime soon? With the school holidays nearly over i guess its a bit late but i'm sure with all the grown organised Men and Women on this awesome site we can get one together before the school holidays end and it'll be a good excuse for mums, dads, kids, people in relationships, single people to go fishing for the weekend. Possible excuse to come to Perth and see the fireworks if this can get organised before Australia Day.

Apart from that it could be dump the kids, skip school or disappear for "a while" to do some fishin!

Idea is out there what do you guys reckon?

Cheers,

Well how bout we decide a spot or spots to compete at for the day? We could try doing Bream fishin during the later part of the afternoon and hit the coast around 6ish and fish till 9ish or later if people don't mind. or we do it all in the morning. if people don't mind a drive we could try Moore River for bream, or fishing off Yanchep reef?

The latter we would probably have to do mid-week as I guess it would get a bit crowded on the weekend.
The southsiders might suggest north and south mole or maybe Mandurah way.
I am open to all suggestions as long as I don't need a 4wd (because I don't have one unfortunately).

On-line Comp

Mon, 2008-01-21 11:39

Why not do a comp on-line? The rules are easy.

1- pick 10 fish species
2- take picture of fish (next to that days paper and tape measure)
3- post photos on website and pick the best ten fish.

The winners would be picked by length alone, not weight.

This way everybody can fish in there own spots (boat, beach, river, morning, daytime or afternoon) and no one has an advantage. The photos must be posted that day before midnight.

Just a thought

Cheers

I think that sounds awesome,

I think that sounds awesome, although comp was also to get the members together to meet up as well..
Was also thinking that if it was landbased then nobody needs to worry about boats, those who have them and those that don't. Online comp would be awesome coz the guys up north could take part, but they have the unfair advantage of Bigger/Variety/Multitudes!

Lets say we go with the idea of the online comp...

Landbased            Boat
1. Black Bream    ---    KG
2. Herring            ---    Pinkie
3. Tailor               ---    Baldie
4. Mullaway          ---    Dhuie
5. Shark               ---    Sambo

Unless we can get everyone on a boat don't see a point in having 10 spread out fish.. so we could split it up 5 common landbased and 5 common boatbased one against another.
So its either that or it might just be easier to keep just to Landbased or Boat. or there's no real competition... half the fish will only be available to a select few
Any other ideas? Best if we could get some skippers to raise their hands, let on deckies and we can all get out on the water!!!!

Hey all who are interested

Mon, 2008-01-21 15:05

Hey all who are interested this comp/gathering its going to be for landbase only, nice social gathering and mabe visit one or two spots, river/coast. We won't mix it up with boats, also because there'll be a fishwrecked boat comp in the not to distant future.

I was thinking of meeting for a good feed first ? a nice dinner wherever and then hit Mindarie,  Hillaries or Freo around sunset time. Happy to open my house for a BBQ before we head off but i don't think people SOR wanna travel all the way up north.

suggestions?

Good idea

Mon, 2008-01-21 18:23

Good idea guys but as I work away up north I don't get back home in Mandurah Till 11 am Australia Day. I would defiantly be interested in fishwrecked comps in the future. Even a bream comp with boats and all the people without boats can meet up with the guys with boats and get to go out on them for a day. A bit like the swan summer series comp. I have a little tinny and would be more than happy to take one or two extra people out for the day. Something to think about in the near future

So many fishing spots. Not enough sickies!!!!!!!

It's hard to organize a comp

Mon, 2008-01-21 18:44

It's hard to organize a comp with prizes donated etc, especially on short notice.  A social fish is a better Idea IMO.  I'll be trying to organize a "west of rotto"  Get together for anyone interested, starting in febuary.

NOR v SOR 2008

Mon, 2008-01-21 18:52

As Dean said it is quite a task to organise a big comp like the NOR v SOR series last year, but don't worry we will certainly be looking to put it on again this year. The aim will be to run something in early April so we max our chances of good weather. We will be needing sponsors again, so if anyone knows someone who would like to get involved please pm me with the details.

Stay tuned for more details, but in the meantime a shore based comp or social fish is a great idea.

Cheers

Tue, 2008-01-22 09:19

Social gathering it is then:) Anyone interested in hitting Yanchep lagoon? BBQ at the park or something and hit yanchep or two rocks in the later evening for a fish.
Then on a later date we can do dawesville or mandurah for the SOR guys.

West of Rotto is going to be a boat comp?

cheers,
