Not good!
Not good to hear Adam. Perhaps the Turquoise Bays current over whelmed his judgement!

VALE LIAMO
I have just received an email from Ellen O'sullivan who has informed me that the unfortunate death in Exmouth on Monday was fishwrecked member; Liamo. Some of you may have read his recent posts of travelling around WA.
Absolutely terrible news and has given me chills, very very sad indeed.

Oh...
Shit Adam... I have followed his progress leading up to this trip for a while now. I have also noted his passion to do this trip. This is so sad. I hope his family has some connection here as I would very much like to offer all of my heart at this time of great difficulty for them I am sure.

Liam - R.I.P.
that's really tragic, a young Irishman who really loved his fishing and was so looking forward to his trip to Western Australia. The only saving grace, if there is one, is that he died doing what he loved best in a most beautiful place. Sympathy to his family.

Liam
Hi Adam
Thank you for informing your members, I had been trying to find a way to construct an email but words could not come. Liam had a website on facebook called 'following liam o connors big trip down under or maybe this thread might work 'http://www.facebook.com/inbox/?ref=mb#/group.php?gid=73287446064' if any of your members would like to leave a message. I know they didnt know him personally but all the same.
I found the thread on the net and although difficult to read it was also calming to see he had found people of similar passions. I have known liam since I was a kid and all he could ever do was talk about fishing fishin fishing, in WA he had found his paradise and I know that whilst there he had some of the best days of his life and much of that is thanks to the advice your members gave him.
I apologise for asking you my next question but all of his fishing gear and his camping van are still in Perth, his family are trying to arrange some way to export it but I dont think they know really what to do, can you offer any advice. I am sorry for asking its just that we are all so so unbearably far away

Terrible news, condolensces to family and friends on a life cut short.
I may be able to help out with the export, if Adam or someone can PM me all the destination info, and articles for export, i'm sure i can get something organised, or at least put them onto someone who can. Will be back in Perth next weekend.
Adam, PM sent.

I think we should really look into helping his family reposess his gear. I've only just recently shipped stuff overseas and these guys are very good:
http://www.exportair.com.au/
It only works out to be a few dollars a kilo if someone could get his gear for him and pack in in a box, maybe we could all chip in just a little to send his gear back to Ireland.

Very bad news
I met Liamo when he was here in Carnarvon a couple of weeks back so it comes a bit of a shock. We had a few good chats about spots, baits etc over coffee[and he liked it ssstttrrrooonnnggg 3 x spoonfulls in a mug].
He was going to camp up at Miaboolia beach just out of town for a week or so before heading up to the blowholes and on towards Exmouth after that.
Condolences go out to his family,he certainly lived for his love of fishing.

But it kinda feels like a family member has departed, despite never meeting him. Its a weird feeling at the moment - condolences to his family.

Goodbye Liam
While he died in paradise doing what he loved to do he was taken way too soon and that denied many of us the pleasure of meeting him and following his ongoing adventures. Such a loss and shock for his family and friends. Our sympathy goes to them for one of great things about the FW family is sharing both the good times and the bad. RIP Liam

Suggestion
Good idea brenz but I reckon getting a group together is going to be pretty hard, especially in winter. How about we establish a memorial Liamo trophy awarded annually, perhaps by voting or a competition and, that way we show our respect to an Irish guy as passionate about fishing as it is possible to be.

Swapped a few exchanges with Liam, seemed like a nice bloke. Any passing away is tragic, especially more so when it's a fellow forum member. My deepest heartfelt sympathies and condolences to family, other loved ones and friends.

Trophy is a great idea.
This man showed a real passion toward his fishing and I am sure he was full of adrenaline landing here and climbing into his vehicle to begin his adventure. Let's get his gear sorted first and think about what we can come up with as a way of rememberance.

very unfortunate incident and I hope his family find peace in such turmoil.
I definitely think a annual trophy dedicated to his memery and fishing spirit would be a commendable idea.

pretty sad at his age but at least he got to start the trip he would've been dreaming about for ages and experience some of WA. Just watched one of his vids, looked like he was having a ball. Pretty good reminder to start doing the things you've dreamed of today because you might not get the chance tomorrow.

Thank you...
I'm Liams youngest sister Caitriona.
On behalf of my family I just wanted to say thanks so much for all the messages.
We are devastated and will miss him terribly but we are taking great comfort from the fact that he was in his idea of paradise when he died and he didn't suffer.
As regards his van and fishing gear, its currently with the police and we will be arranging for someone to go out and collect it from there, someone very close to the family and to Liam.
We are eager to honor Liams memory in as many ways as possible and of course his amazing experience in Australia. If anyone has any ideas please feel free to suggest them e.g., ways to improve beach safety in the areas that he visited, like having difibrillators on site and the likes of that. Or if there are any, and it sounds a bit silly, but fishing organisations over there who do good work, we're just throwing around ideas at home at the minute but ye would probably have a better idea of where money could be used over there.
Please feel free to contact the family with suggestions

From the video's it's good to see he was living the dream enjoying his passion for fishing.
Agree with the idea of a memorial award for the land based section.
