flathead mandurah estuary

At mandurah there was a small jetty, this small jetty was known as dalrimple's jetty" if i remember rightly. from the jetty i used to catch quite large dark coloured flathead when i would come down at easter timesthis was way back in the late 50s perhaps early 60s. Fast forward to 2000 when i moved down to mandurah i have not seen or heard of anyone catching flathead or flounder in the estuary, yet there is plenty of small flathead to be caught within 1nm of the ocean end of the cut. can anyone tell me if they have caught flathead in the esturay in recent years, like the last 5 or so.

Can anyone say why this is so,or is it i'm just not fishing in the right spots

. thanks in anticipation for replys

Flatties

Have done a couple of flicking sessions around the local beaches and picked up really small flathead, would have thought the estuary would be a haven for them but have had no luck and the blowies destroy most plastics as soon as they touch the water...

I did see a couple of blokes flicking poppers in the bay (next to merchant down from old traffic bridge) but i think they were looking for whiting?

i was seeking info about flathead in the mandurah estuary and low and behold what comes up from a most unexpected source, look in yesterdays west australian newspaper in the lifestyle section page 12 mid page a cooking reeipe for flathead quote "i get fresh mandurah flathead fillets blah blah blah" is this for real i'm going to visit a pro fisherman and see if he can give me a bit of info about estuary flathead and their abundance
