Going to
Going to turn into a shit fight by the sounds of it,
Pussies don't want to be away from home or their families for any length of time, staying in a resort for frig sake
Thank goodness they aren't in the services or working FIFO, and before anyone jumps on me yes I have participated in both, with 40 years in Underground Mining. Before FIFO we would often do 3 months on followed by 1 week off.
Just because they were given a gift where thy are good at sport apparently doesn't make them the big tough guys they would like us all to believe
Now they are citing Mental Health as a reason for not participating if the hub set up is introduced, I would have thought this would happen during or after the event,
Scrap the season and move on, or if players refuse to take part, scrap their contracts.

FIFO
I met an electrical contractor at a NT minesite years ago.
He was married with 2 small kids.
He had been on site for over 3 months, working 7 days/week at 12 hr days and a fair bit of a/h overtime too.
He flew back to Perth on a Sunday and got a rocket from his employer for not turning up for work in Perth on the next morning.
I reckon he had a reason to complain.....

Mental health isnt something
Mental health isnt something to joke about. It is absoloutely fucking debilitating and sometimes for no apparent reason.
Not everyone was born will a wheelbarrow to carry their ego around in.

Was thinking the same mate
Was thinking the same swompa. came off as bit of a hero post. Putting your desire to watch sport on the couch with a beer in hand above blokes wanting to stay home with their families. I'm guessing it was tongue in cheek? No real experience with mental health issues it seems.

Who was joking
Who was joking about mental health?
If your comment was directed at me read my post again I wasn't joking about mental health
I simply stated that I didn't think you could be affected by a mental health issue before something had taken place which caused the illness
I was questioning why Nathan Buckley was using the term mental health if proposed hubs go ahead, after all nothing has taken place yet.
I am learning that there are too many people on this site who simply want to smash someone for making what they believe is a valid comment.
And for your information I do suffer from a mental health disorder and have been diagnosed with PTSD by more than one Psychiatrist.

I know exactly what you mean
I know exactly what you mean about people wanting to smash you over opinions, a man with your experience should be used to it. Really, preventing any health issues is better than treating them. I guess calling them pussies set the tone and to me it seemed like you were complaining about them using it as an excuse not to play. I know it is abused as areason for a lot of things tho. Yeh skull comment aimed at you

I see Freo players will be
I see Freo players will be asked questions about flouting social distancing laws again:

Maybe they were at Luke Ryan's house to pickup a bag of lime for their newly planted vege patches?

Yep I agree Swompa... Skull
Yep I agree Swompa...
Skull and dmck are you implying that when the AFL machine says jump these players need to say how high? I don't think so!
If I took a FIFO job week on week off for 100k up in karatha and then all of a sudden my employer needs me to fuck off to live in Alice Springs for 3 months on 80k I'd discuss it and do what's best for me and my family.
After all the choice is mine right??
Whilst I'm all for watching a bit of footy I'm not interested if it's going to turn into a shit fight.
HOWEVER... At a very unique time like this I don't think it's unfair to ask the players to take a pay cut ( certainly the blokes on big bucks because those fellas are usually the ones making money on sponsorship deals elsewhere anyway ) and also ask the players to consider being away for 3 or 4 weeks once this season perhaps.

If cricket teams can do it
If cricket teams can do it for a world cup....
Assuming all players will be in the same boat i.e. living in hotels so that along with no home crowds evens it up a fair bit. Just get some footy going!

I believe Mc clown said fly
I believe Mc clown said fly in for a game then fly out to go home straight away will not happen but a hub situation with isolation could. WA has done well so far ... Vics and nsw haven't . Would you want that here for the sake of a football match ? 1 outbreak if borders are relaxed and back to Square one. Football has to play by the same rules as everyone else in business they are just another industry.

Let's not take medical advice
Let's not take medical advice from a sport that's intellectual capacity involves receiving the ball and running with it until you get tackled... and repeat another 5x
