I stopped as soon as the rods

I stopped as soon as the rods fell so could probably trace it back to where I momentarily drifted but I very quickly accepted it was gone forever so didn't even bother marking it

The previous owner installed

Sat, 2018-02-17 19:10

The previous owner installed an Oceansouth clamp on rocketlauncher and I've reinforced the clamps and it's been fine but today after launching over the back of a few hollow swells and bellying out on a large one the poles up top somehow pulled apart and the whole thing fell apart throwing 2 of the 4 rocks onto the deck and my new combo and a cheaper but still mid range combo straight into the drink. It's also torn my bimini I had redone last year. I physically cannot put the poles back together so there must have been some force.

I rang Club Marine and the bloke said the circumstance is covered by insurance but the issue may be whether the broken rocketlauncher is deemed as 'wear and tear' so I'll send in some pics and see if they're worth their weight.

Claim

Sat, 2018-02-17 22:12

I had a claim for the same thing and it was covered no problem.

Insurance companies wont cover the braid though but the rods and reels should be right.

Just need to make sure you word your claim as you have above about hitting a wave hard causing the boat to jolt suddenly and the rocket launcher to break.

As there is an incident to cause the fault the wear and tear shouldnt be an issue either

And of course it was actually 3 Stella combos that ended up in the drink.

Easy fix

Sun, 2018-02-18 13:58

When mine let go thepipe fractured and when it spun around and dropped the pressure cracked the other side.

No way they could call it wear and tear then.

If yours is the folding temp type it could be an issue if plastic fittings fatigued or gone brittle in the sun.

Will all come down to what broke and how

Great news. Got a call

Sat, 2018-03-03 22:49

Great news. Got a call Tuesday that Club Marine are paying me out for 2x combos at RRP (minus the braid the fuckers), cost of replacing my bimini canvas and the cost of the rocket launcher. Big thanks to Grant aka Gruntre69 who did a quote for the bimini at the drop of a hat for me and who is now going to redo that and rebuild and reupholster my rear bench seats for me at a very reasonable price.

Already picked up an exact replacement rod as some lady in Mandurah bought one for her partner for her birthday and he left her before his birthday so she was selling it half price at $200 which covers my $200 excess and just ordered the reel at $130 under RRP which covers the braid.

The cash for the rocket launcher is also going to go towards a new custom SS rocket launcher which Seakem has offered to make up for me.

All in all a pretty shit experience has ended up on a slightly positive note as I've got $250 towards the rocketlauncher I was going to get done soon anyway.
