Fresh prawns in Carnarvon

Hi everyone -

we are on our way to Broome tomorrow (someone has to do it) and have been told that we can buy fresh prawns off the fishing boats for around $12 a kilo (great bait for Blue Bone).

Have tried to find out where and when, but so far no luck :(

Can anyone local please help with a time and place? Should be in Carnarvon on Thursday or Friday.

Thanks!!!

Sorry if this is in the wrong place - first time on the forum

Fishing Boat Harbour

Try the fishing Boat harbor there mate and look for the Trawlers or at the Crab Shack out there. Also I think you can still buy them out at the Nor West Seafood factory out of town towards Pelican Point. Kings from Shark Bay are definitely the best! Enjoy.....Nev

coral prawns

You may be able to buy coral prawns off the boat.  I don't think the co-op boats like Kailis sell to the public, but there may be an independent operator who may.  Other wise the crab shack is great for all sea food out on boat harbour road and nice friendly people too. (IMO)  Coral prawns will be best and cheapest for bait, the rest of them - EAT! :)
