Furuno FCV 582L advise needed
Submitted by mallesh on Mon, 2016-07-18 09:34
G'day Fishos,
Was given a Furuno FCV582L by a good mate. Its in a very good nick and has a 600W tanny.
I already have a Lowrance LCX-104C GPS/Eco sounder combo which I am quiet comfortable using.
Now if I install the FCV582L is it going to make any difference to what I already have or Should I wait and buy a FCV585/FCV588?
Your input on this situation will be very much appreciated.
Thanks
Mallesh

582 were a great unit. Still
582 were a great unit. Still good for finding fish as a stand alone unit. Definitely worth setting up alongside the lowrance.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

I had 582 on my last boat and was a good sounder for finding fish, plenty of info on net about setup and tuning. Definitely worth setting up on your boat.

I will take your word on this.
I wish it defines the bottom better than my Lowrance.

Furuno 582 & lowrance
I run a 582 and a lowrance side by side (useing the lowrance as GPS/chart display).
No problems at all transducers they are about 30cm away from each other and have not had any interference when using sounders on both rigs.

I had the 582 L, it is a big 10 year old unit.
got nothing on the new 628 or 627
especially for bottom definition. Personally I would get a newer one and sell the old one

I will keep this in mind.
Can't find a good second hand FCV 585 or 587
They sell like a piece of cake and I cannot afford to buy a new one at this point of time.
