G'day all, Have a Raymarine DS600X with a 500watt trannie about 11 years old on our Trailblazer and thinking of updating to a 588 Furuno, fish Exxie about once a year and rest of the time out of Mandurah so wondering at what depth a 600watt loses fish as up north we fish from shallow to 300 metres. Thanks for input in advance.

from memory i'd be struggling in 180-200 with a 627 and p66. If you're upgrading, try and get 1kw and preferably wet face thru hull

Furuno with 600watt tranie
Probably easier for us to go transom mount, what's the difference between the 525TID-TMD (does it work 200 and 50kHz) and the TM 260 other than the price. If anyone has had the experience of both would be great to here from you. Cheers....UPDATE, went to Whitworths site and they answered the dual frequencie question for me but still interested in the difference between both transducers.

I'm running a P66 tranny
After about 150 - 170 you are really pushing the envelop to get anything reasonable out of the P66 transom mounted.

p66
ive seen one read reasonably at 200-220 but havent pushed mine yet with the new 588, not sure if the Rezboost will assist in depth too much on the new unit?

TM260
i found it extremely difficult to get the TM260 transom molunt to read well over 18kts on my last 8.2 m Hardtop , very annoying when you want to cruise at 24+kts and find new ground .

Well the decision was made.
Well after a lot of head scratching I made a call to Taylor Marine and their advice for my situation was to go with the 588 and the P66, so it was up to the Boat Show today and after another tongue wag with the Furuno blokes I bought the new toy. Pick it up on Tuesday, when it's fitted I'll put the Raymarine DS600X out there if anyone is interested.
