Just wondering what you all think about this latest incident (Stokes - drugs). All you Geelong supporters must be spewing. Once again the club being dragged through the sh$t. Why would he do it? He had everything (except premiership medals), good club, strong team, great future...
Even myself being a hawks supporter I am extreemly disappointed.

As a supporter I can't believe it, as you said why would he do it???? However, make sure we understand the facts before we hang him. He did get a Premiership Medal 2007.

If it was good enough for Ben to get a royal reaming without even getting caught by the AFL or the Police then I would think it only fair to expect a ban. Life ban, not too sure about that but he would surely have to jump through at least as many hoops as Benny boy did. But then again he is a Victorian

You wonder why it happens, so much going for them and they blow it. Im not sure what the fact that he has premiership medal has to do with his predicament, didn't cousins have one as well!

Stokes has stated he only bought it for a friend but never used the stuff himself, If this is correct he is very stupid to say the least - don't buy this myself -surely he would have more sense.

Funny that there are 6 (roughly) people involved in the arrests, but we don't even hear the names of the others. Let him be tried by the legal system, not by the AFL/media. If he tests negative there is no reason why he can't keep playing footy while the cops get on with their business. Would you get fired just for being arrested?
Premierships? Whatever? He is a human like the rest of us.

If he gets arrested and charged with posession and trafficing how could he keep playing footy? Understand totally where your coming from Cammo and they should let the police and legal system deal with it before the public and media judge but if it comes through that he is guilty then i think he will looking at a bit of a break. See what happens i guess....... Tigh

Is Geelong going to get hit with tough sanctions now as well. They have had a few blues now! ie Steve Johnson - Drink Driving.
And what about Essendon??? Any sanctions there???
The AFL is now officially a joke. The last few years has turned me off the game. Way too inconsistent with the rules, the tribunal system, the favouritism of Eastern State club. Joke - Joke - Joke!!! It's very frustrating. They are killing our awesome game! Aaaaaaaaaarrrgh!
If only the soccer didn't have fairies falling over their own shadows and rolling around the ground in tears all the time. I'd be following that otherwise!

I don't understand why someone in his position would do something so dumb. If he is guilty then he deserves everthing he gets. Hundreds of guys would kill for the opertunity to play footy and it has got me f@#cked why any of the players would do anything to put there career at risk.

Cats supporter, It is just unbelievable that a player as good as Stokes gets involved in Drugs,all I can say is that allot of these AFL players must think they are ABOVE THE LAW and they can do what they want,UNTIL THEY GET CAUGHT.IMO,I wonder how many players in the AFL are running the FINE LINE between the Law and LAWLESNESS .

Sanctions in place
The sanctions that are in place, from what I understand, are imposed by the International Drug/Doping Agency.
4 years to life ban if the conviction goes thru.
Even if Stokes wasn't using, he will still be deemed a Trafficker and charged with Possession and Trafficking... Just plain stupidity..
Heard on 6PR tonight that there may also be other players involved !
Could be a very interesting couple of weeks coming up, in the lead up to the 2010 season !

Interesting isn't it. Big bans for a few grams of crack, but enjoy a beer on the victory dais on GF day. I can be pretty sure which drug causes more angst in the community.
Sorry for going on, but the AFL has really given me the shits over the past few years. Love the game, hate the administration of it. I have reverted to watching amatuers at the local these days. Seems to be where the real footy is played these days.
