Flat Rocks and then south to Head Bangers

Just watch the beaches as in winter large weed patches get covered in sand and can collapse and bog you in the blink of an eye - my mate lost his forerunner in just those circumstances when the tide came in

Went to the beach south of Flat rocks

Was a couple of years ago now but we kept heading South from Flat rocks until the reefy section cleared up, the beach then became really narrow and boggy but we managed to push through until it finally opened back up to a long stretch of beach with some massive holes and gutters along it. It was the end of the trip but I couldn't resist casting out the remaining mulies while we packed up. Nearly every cast resulted in a hook-up to a tailor or dart and it was the middle of the day. The only blokes which were on the beach reckoned this trend kept up until the sun went down, then they just disappeared.

This intrigued me a fair bit and I swore to head back there to give the place a proper fish, hasn't happened yet haha. We managed to find an exit straight back to the road (near mini s-bend) which saved us from heading back along the tough section of the beach but I would definitely recommend going into this area with a bit of experience up the sleeve (similar to what sunshine has said).

I've also tried all the way up north of Gero until the Bow river. Just South of the river is awesome on a low swell but if the swell is up, you'll have a hard/dangerous time fishing. I've never been able to find good sections of beach which produce fish between North of Drummond and south of Bow river but plenty of blokes I used to work with caught heaps of tailor at Drummond itself (I've never fished it).
