Advice needed for Fin-nor Ahab 30

Howdy all,

Old man just gave me one of his prized reels from his trolling days.  The plan is to use this as a LBG reel at some stage.

I've googled but found no specifications on this reel.  From my understanding this reel went out of production in 2000.

If anyone can shed some light on it, i.e line capacity etc.

Cheers,

Clem

Classy old reel, not much info around although the 30 Wide version holds 850mt of 30lb mono, yours is probably around 700mt capacity.

Try Fin Nor customer service they will know.

Ye seems like the 30W version

Ye seems like the 30W version holds 850m 30lb mono.  This thing feels a tad heavier than a Tiagra 30 for sure.

Hi Bulkie,

Did you contact Fin Nor direct?  I work for the WA distributor for Fin Nor reels, and we never bought this particular model in, however looking at the pic it looks very similar to the new Santiago reels. Please send me some more pics and I will chase up some info on it for you.

please email pics to

Hey mate,  thanks for that.  I contacted Fin-nor at USA direct.  Response I got ....

"If your reel was manufactured before Zebco purchased Finnor we wouldn't have any information on those reels.   When we bought Finnor we starting manufacturing all of our reels in China."

I gathered from the old man the reel was purchased in USA back in the 90s.
