Give a wave

Well the last couple of trips we have done we have been heading up the ramp when most are heading home .As we near we give a wave as we pass a fellow fisher .but not once has anyone waved back. They must have had a shit day or have a Huge stick in there butt. Seems to be the norm in society these days. well I would hope all you none waving fishers all had a shit day and caught f all.

I always wave, sometimes

Wed, 2012-01-25 14:32

I always wave, sometimes even with a beer in my hand, hold the occasional fish up to show off too...

If someone is sad on the water there doing it wrong, catching a fish is just a bonus.

it should be the 4th finger i rekon. At the ramp just wave it around and see who replies. if someone chases you with a gaff or a spear gun you'll know they miss-interpreted you. worth a shot i rekon!!!!

Were you in a landcruiser ...Paul

Wed, 2012-01-25 16:37

If so ,I would find it difficult to explain why because fellow cruiser owners always give eachother the special nod or wave...if you weren't and even worse if you were in a nissan that would explain everything ...however from this time forward . I will try to acknowledge all drivers regardless of their vehicles with at least a token gesture ....

Special wave

Wed, 2012-01-25 21:10

Is the special "Landcruiser" wave the one where you put the little finger of one hand up to signal to everyone that you've got a smaller dick than Patrol drivers?

It's the Aussie way

Wed, 2012-01-25 16:51

Anyone who lives in or travels in the outback areas always waves and I get a kick when someone waves to me. Problem in the city and outlying areas is that everyone seems to be up themselves and doesn't give a shit about others. Take a narrow road or track. People would rather hold ground than yield. Probably because if they do the wankers who they let through just go through as if it is what they expected. Community signs in remote areas east of Perth encourage waving and thank you for it as you leave the district.

Makes me feel a bit old now

Wed, 2012-01-25 17:08

Makes me feel a bit old now but I remember driving up to Bunbury from Albany for a new years eve bash at the speedway, the Divinyls and Storytime i think it was. Anyway from Busselton to Bunno's we were by then slightly pissed and waving to every car that passed and not a single return wave. Coming from the country us young blokes found that unbelievable!
I've certainly noticed the decline of the howdy wave including in rural areas these days!

Lost art

As Gaffatron said once you go past gero everyone has time for a wave. Once you get near Perth everyone starts to stress out for some reason. Never know when you might need the person that has waved at you!

Always wave and if you travel

Wed, 2012-01-25 20:48

Always wave and if you travel through some parts of our great southern there are signs telling you to wave!

Have my own Transport business here in the South West and waving to fellow truckies is the name of the game. most of us know each other.

Waving to fellow boaties has also always been the go but now we have many weekender boaties that Blast their Arse round and have no respect for other Boaties!

Serious! I'm seeing a generation of people that has me wondering, and wondering, and wondering, and wondering... ?

Have driven in most capital

Thu, 2012-01-26 18:18

Have driven in most capital cities in Australia, in all other capital cities around 90% of people wave if you let them in or they've done something wrong.

Here in Perth it's the other way around.. in fact even when they do the wrong thing, no wave but a blast from em to the effect of "f..k you!!"..

No wonder why there is so much road rage..

We always used

Thu, 2012-01-26 18:34

to wave when passing another boat on the water, it doesn't hurt to give a wave and a smile.  In Leeman when you are driving around the town  to Jurien or Green Head people always raise their index finger as a hello, it just feels so good.  Even on the ramps either at the club or Leeman old fart always yells out "Hope you left some for me tomorrow or did you have a good day out fishing," always get a smile or that big one that got away.  Old fart being a retired truckie always raises his index finger to another truckie or gets on the two way and has a yak, especially asking if their are any wide loads coming from up north or the way open from the south.
