Gme gx700 vhf issue

Hey guys
Im having an issue with my gme gcom gx700 vhf. When I try to use the radio it comes up with the busy icon. Has anybody else had this drama? I can’t find anything on the net or looking through the manual so here I am. I’ve just put a new antenna on there as the old ones wiring looked dodgy and the unit itself would be around 12 months old. Any help would be much appreciated
thanks

Say no more.
When you replace it go for an icom.

And I second that suggestion
Have you tried adjusting the automatic squelch in case it is reading busy because you are in an electrical noisy area

Cheers sunshine and silver fox
I played with the squelch and the busy icon is gone have to test on the water. Thanks for the heads up on icom radios too I’ll look into those as the project boat gets a bit closer to completion.

And I would add that the GME antennas are a con
And that comes from a long time ham radio operator. You would think, and I believe reasonably so, that it you buy a larger longer antenna it's performance will be better over shorter ones. Sure they can be loaded differently which changes performance but I was stunned to discover the top of the range, largest, GME antenna I bought had exactly the same properties as one 600mm shorter.....all you are buying is an extra length of fibreglass (that doesn't conduct electromagnetic energy) the antenna inside is the same length.
Chase down a more expensive brand that is honest in regards the antenna properties

for all the other
for all the other regulations about flares being in date an au standards for pfd's etc - and theres no regulations from AMSA or anyone on the minimum spec/quality from antennas
not to talk about quality of the bases
