Ice makers

Hey guys,
just wondering if anyone has bought a dedicated ice maker for drinks/esky filling and has as recommendations.
Lots of different ones online, production and storage capacity varies so much. Wanting to be able to take it away on fishing holidays so not sure of how the water filling situation would work too, some with small water reservoirs and others with mains water connections.
any advice? cheers!

I have a mains water
I have a mains water connected one that I use at my holiday house up the coast, bought it second hand off a member on here and it hasn't missed a beat. Absolutely love it, it pumps out about 2 x 20L buckets of ice when I leave it running over night.

That's a good amount! Would be nice to fill an esky on the first day and then be able to top
up over the holiday. Do you know the brand at all mate?
Looks like the mains connection is needed for the larger production ones, just not sure how to rig that up if moving it around?

It's up the coast Goodz and can't recall at the moment. The one I have is on wheels and just a garden hose connection.

Manitowoc are a good brand. Mains water but just buy a hose, attach required fittings to either end of hose, and can connect them to any tap.

Get a good brand and quality one
We normally take 2 away with us when heading north. As mentioned above, get one that normally plumbs into the mains water supply, but connect inlet with a garden hose. If using up north and you know the water quality will be average, get an in-line charcoal caravan style water filter. (Just connect it into the hose line for the water supply). If making ice with poor quality water like some places up north, it clogs up the ice making components inside. (Scale and calcium build up).
Also when using up north, set it up in a shady place and ideally inside somewhere. You will struggle to make ice quickly when it's bloody hot. Finally, buy a good quality unit not some eBay special, the eBay specials only last a year or so at best. Look on gumtree or ross's auctions to start with.

Thanks mate, that's some good advice, looking to take one to Exmouth twice over the next year. Sounds like sorting a decent one and sorting the plumbing out is the go.

Mate jusgot one of the smaller ones for 650 but I'm not sold, no way would you pull more than 5 kilos out at a time
we had the commercial ones at work I'd pay the extra and get those you can fill bucketloads
