No wonder it's gettin harder to find reds, these guys must have had a day out. 36 reds wow if my calculations are correct thats 18 guys fishin aint it. hmmm maybe not. That cleaning bench makes em look small.

What ever happened to fish for the future
If there was 18 people fishing then fair enough, but if not then that is just taking the piss. no wonder fish stocks get smashed so hard when excess fish are taken like this.

If its within the legal limits
If its within the legal limits thats fine .but putting picks like this one .dont help anyone .especialy recreational fishos that mite be lucky enough too pick one or two.cos It only gives vegitarians ,greenies, doo gooders,DPT of fisheries reason to wail or impose more restrictive bans.

i dont know bout everyone
i dont know bout everyone else but i fish for the fun of it and only take a few home for sum tucker.. taking photos and releasing the fish are better than killing them n stock piling them in the freezer.

32 by my count. This sight
32 by my count. This sight is a regular and personally unpleasing occurance at this destination. However, given it's remoteness, groups of fishos on their annual trips favour this spot - safety in numbers.
As a result it's common to have up to 5 boats staying @ the fisherman's lodge and spreading out for each day's fishing. Amongst them a catch like this is more than likely legal the way the laws are currently structured. But just because it's legal, does not make it right. JMO (civil and constructve)

Fishing Rules
No wonder the government have to change possession, boat and trip limits. This type of RAPE and Pillage has to come to an end. Fairs fair leave a few for other people and next year. The problem with some fisher people is greed and they don't give a rats arse about anyone else or the future of our very special fishery here in WA. "Disappointed"

Still 16 fishos
To take 32 fish. And it must be that they fished all together and brought the fish in together, and lined them up perfectly like this to take a brag shot. 5 boats with 3 fisherman could add up but this is just a photo that reaks of a snake in the grass. I hate shots like this and agree with Jay.
Fish for a feed not fish for your limit. Rape (and Pillage) is illegal in human culture and this is just that for the fish world.
Civil but I hate this.

And that's just the Reds! I'd hate to see what else they kept...
I think some people really need to draw the line between what's legal and what's ethical.

Thats funny you should say that
I posted something up about this sort of thing a good while ago and all i got in return was the old "if it's legal it's ok" crap, very few people on here agreed with me when i posed the question "is it right to take your bag limit just because it's legal?" it seems maybe people are getting the message now as there seems more condemnation of this sort of practice, having said that I think the facts should established to as to how many people were actualy fishing, although it does look bad even if it realy isn't, I mean would people be complaining if fishwrecked had a trip there with 30 or so people and caught a similar amount and every body posted there pics seperatley?...I think not!

shocking
Pretty shocking photo. How old is it I wonder? You would think things have changed these days. Maybe it was a Charter boat with 20 people on board??
I went on a charter in Exmouth 16 years ago and approx 60 Spanish macks were caught and kept. The clients took a couple each and the skipper sold the rest. Thinking back it was disgraceful.
Also saw a charter come in one night at Coral bay at midnight with no clients. Full of reds and everything else that tastes good...Straight to Kailis. Guy said he had a wet line licence and fished on the quiet season.

Hi Ya,I'm not trying to
Hi Ya,
I'm not trying to defend the indefensible but while everyone has been very quick to count the fish, has anybody bothered to count the number of blokes in the picture?
I can count 7 plus let's assume the person taking the picture was also fishing so there's 8 in total. Lets also assume they all fished. That means there are only 4 fish per person (and given I don't have a boat I haven't bothered to find out the bag limit per person for these fish so I don't know whether that is within limits or not). Maybe there were more blokes but they aren't in the picture.
Cheers.

Thats right
it probably is legal and there maybe 20 boats for all we know but the way the photos been taken its simply in bad taste for anyone who has half a care for the ocean environment.

Seems most people think this
Seems most people think this pic is in bad taste, not a good look. over fishing, taking too much .I’m a little confused as I have commented on kill picks in the past and because they were from members of the forum and it was there trip for the year, and $1000's of dollars were paid to make it possible it was fine. And most stood up and said within the law alls good, well done mate .Yes this pic is of bad taste and looks terrible ,maybe we do need more bans for the northern waters so this sort of thing doesn’t happen, and people can go up north and bring home a FEED and just go to enjoy the fishing ,On the way to Exmouth this year we would have passed 40 boats all returning from the north and I bet a lot of them had bags full of fish ,it’s only a matter of time and things will change and this will not be allowed to happen. Bring it on I say..

lots nice fish but
Seen lots bigger catches acheived on a daily basis by profesional fisherman who rape the sea legally and everything in the name of making a living and shit, and the middle men at the fish markets who take thier greedy share so people who dont mortgage half thier lives away on a boat and fishing gear can go and pay over inflated prices for the fish they eat there are lots of reasons why the fish stocks are so badly depleted not just the shithead amatures who have managed to catch once in a lifetime haul not that I agree with what they did unless we all start to be more concious of what we take from the sea it may soon run out completely look at china where the only fish they eat has been farmed or stolen from other countrys waters such as our own how would it be if suddenly there were no more fish to catch.

GOOD CATCH
I DONT AGREE WITH FISH RAPE but for those who take time off work to travell all that way north to fish, know that every time you go up you still face the prospect of coming back with shit all. i go to quobba and 2 times out of five i come back empty handed. this is due to either bad weather or merky water. i take 2 to 3 trips a year. when we catch heaps you still have to realise that we only fish 1 week of the year. its not a EVERY DAY OCCURANCE! if this was local then i would be pretty pissed!!!

As others have said take
As others have said take what you need not what you can. If it is legal (Doubt it) then get two or three blokes to grab a fish each and grab a happy snap. Better still take the photo and send them back to the deep. There is no need to post a pic like that.

Reds at Gnaraloo
Having fished Gnaraloo a number of times, you soon realise that mother nature takes care of the fish. These reds were probably nailed out wide. It is not often that you can get out to the spots, because of winds/swell etc working against you.
These guys had a lucky day, I can assure you it's not an arm chair ride fishing that area. Fair enough the photo maybe in poor taste, but I know Fisheries hammer the place, and if the catch is not legal, this group was risking a fair amount of fines and possible seizure of gear.
I am sure there would have been the required amount of persons to equal the reds.

reds at Gnaraloo
Good Greif, what a carry on!
I had hoped this would have dissapeared by now................I am going to set you straight so you can all sleep at night.
I am the skipper of one of the 5 boats that caught this lot.
For the record there are 31 legal sized Reds caught by 16 fishermen. For those of you that are mathematically challenged thats 2 each for 15 guys and 1 for Macka (who only catches red tins).
I dont know who took this pic but everyone was snapping away like blowies at Mandurah................. At least the donkey could have put in an explanation.
Now, we are a group of guys that get away once a year for a fishing trip; we dont rape and pillage or try to sneak off with more than we are supposed to. As a matter of fact we rarely even head home with 20kg each.
The day we caught these beauties was one of those rare glassed off rippers of a day that we almost never see while we are up there. The gods of red emperor decided today was our day and we all caught fish. The rest of our catch was nowhere as good as this lot and the boys wanted them all lined up for a photo. So fellas, thats it no crime has been committed here but next time we will only take pics holding 2 fish so no one feels uncomfortable.
Oh and by the way, just to show you all that the Fisheries are doing their job, they were at the bay waiting when we came in and checked our catch............guess what......we were legal!
Good fortune to you all
Mick

no worries
No worries Mick, I'm sure if all new the story behind it then there wouldn't have been as much of a kafuffle. I had fisheries ring me asking for information on this photo because there was no story to go with it, atleast now its cleared up somewhat.
