Going really well on the Mandurah whiting...

Been absolutely slaying the YFW over the past few days...probably have caught and (mostly) released 70+ fish over three sessions. No real big 'uns, average size maybe 27-28 cm and hitting every lure I've thrown at them, including softies and sinking stickbaits in the deeper channels. Have also got onto maybe a dozen or so tiny salmon so have got fingers crossed that they'll get up to 35-40cm over the next couple of months to really give the light gear a buzz!

Anyway, I got Lisa down there this morning and she got into her first whiting as well...she couldn't believe how shallow (ankle deep) some of the fish were taking lures in, and she was a bit miffed at me for not bringing some sort of container to take them home! I assured her that we'll have another crack ASAP and take a few for a feed then!

How late in the day were you catching the YFW by the colour of the water it looks like the tide was on the way out.
Well done Lisa.

Not seeing any whiting? Sounds like they're running though.

The size has been down for me so far this year on the serpentine entry and owen street flats. Yet to try point grey side thought.

Tides...

Mon, 2015-01-05 21:00

...I know they're supposed mean something but honestly, over those three sessions was catching fish consistently from 0630 right through til after lunch...there was no one particular time...it was more to with structure; sand holes/weed edges/channel edges held greater concentrations of fish!
