I have a Stella 6000 on a game type j. 30lb outfit. Nice and light and a delight to use. Should be able to squeeze into your budget.

Oceans legacy pe4 overhead spiral wrap rod, (their probably more on the pe3 side). Shimano Ocea Jigger 2000 reel, Ocea pe3 braid. That will stop just about any metro demersal, is all well within your budget, and are all items which should last long term.

Plus 2 for the ocea jigger

Plus 2 for the ocea jigger but the 1500 has more than enough balls for perth. Mine takes 400m of pe2.5. Ive used it in 200m of water.

That leaves you about 600 for the rod. If you can stretch another $200 that gets you into all the high end slow pitch rods like the levitates, propogates, poseidons. It is best you pick a few up but. If you cant stretch the budget oceans legacy do some nice rods around the $400 mark.

If not going super deep can go the ocea jigger 1000, same as the 1500 just smaller spool capacity from memory.

Fits 300m of PE2 Ocea braid beautifully, no need to worry about heap of mono backing to fill the spool.
