Got mine with a 64GB Class 10 card; guys in Camera House recommended it, and they mentioned that other classes will cause you issues (or that's what they said).
I'd highly suggest you get the BacPac LCD as it makes heaps of difference (not sold locally though). I bought the "Outdoor" edition, and toped it up with the Pole mounting bracket, LCD BacPac, and now buying the WiFi BacPac + Remote Combo, but not released for Australia yet and aftermarket sellers haven't got them, yet.
So far have only used it on the boat fixed, and the quality is amazing. Great to liten to the banter on the boat afterwards. Its a laugh.
Yip the higher the class card the better, 32 x 10 for me aswell.
Only issue I have, or havent figured out yet is the lack of a rotating mount, every mount is fixed at 90 degrees. Otherwise a fantastic little thing. Was surprised at the size, its tiny for something packing a punch.
I got this Pole Mount that gives me 3D movement of the unit, and can be mounted on any of the poles onboard (click here).
It's amazing if you put it facing where you mostly fish, and control it with the remote control, mounted on your wrest (here). This combo is on special right now, but bummer that it's not yet released to Australia. I may buy it, and get it sent to my Bro in the Houston
Beau - regarding the 64Gig card; that's what they told me at Camera House in the CBD, whether its true or not ... not sure! And it wasn't cheap!
Which can then attach to any painting pole you can get from Bunnings. I got a wooden pole about 2m for doing the filming underwater off the side of the boat, but also got an extendable metal 3m one for doing landbased work.
dont always go by class as some generic cards are over rated. you need a card with atleast a 45mb/s read and write speed and if you can afford go for the 95mb/s. Your battery will run out long before a 32gb card fills up, I use a 32gb card and it lasts around 3 battery changes of non stop HD recording (around 3 hours). If your looking at extra batteries you can get generic gopro batteries on ebay for a fraction of the cost on genuine gopro and with a wall/car charger thrown in which is handy on road trips and auxiliary 12v on the boat if your always swapping batteries.
Great product but but a bit deceptive on the marketing i reckon. buy the camera for $350 but by the time you have the package that suits you and is practical most would be looking at around $6-700+... and you could easily keep spending.
hey guys a site I have used for years for all my camera gear is having a 50% sale on CAMERAS DIRECT branded items. They are based in QLD and shippng usually takes 7 days. I have never had an issue with them and if you sign up you can receive an email every time they have sales, which is quite often.
Im taking this opportunity to buy some generic gopro accessories like extra batteries, car chargers and wall chargers.
Might be from people going straight from having their GoPro sitting in the sun on the beach or boat to dunking them in cold water? Or maybe even people have got sand/grit/dust on the seal?
I have used my LCD backpack a fair few times now underwater from getting pounding myself in whitewash at the beach to scuba diving, though only to a max of 20m deep so far, and as yet haven't had a leak. Maybe i am just lucky :)
Where abouts has everyone purchased their Go Pro from?
Went on the go pro site yesterday and went to order one aswell as a bunch of extras to go with it, but nearly fell of my chair when they wanted to charge an extra $80 for delivery! So havent purchased one yet and thought id see where most people get them from?
I got mine locally for warrenty - but all accessories from Tackle Direct in the US, usually ship them with lures and lines. However, someone here mentioned before about someone that sells them very cheap (worth a search)

All the specs are on the site but from the top of my head I'm going to say class 4 minimum. Better check the site though.
I picked up some 32Gb class 10 cards from camerasdirect.com for $32 each which I think is a good buy

You just recharge it via the USB cable straight into the camera. You can buy a separate external charger, that charges the battery quicker though.

You use a 64gb card?! does it run ok? Why do the specs on Gopro site reccomend cards up to 32gb?
Storage
MEMORY:
SDHC: Up to 32GB (Class 4 or Higher)
If I had known that gopros could work with a 64gb card I would have bought the larger cards straight up!
