Have a boat but love Landbased too

Over the weekend with the herring running in the cut decided to go for a fish. Tempted to take the boat, anchor up in the cut and have a go, but realised that I loved landbased just as much. So went away from the mad crowd at the Marina site and had a cool time C&Ring hezza's. It made me realise I loved LB as much as boat based fishing, and since returning from Karratha where landbased isnt a fantastic option, it was a nice change to go back to grass roots fishing from shore.

Made me wonder whther others also share the duel passion about both, or surely love one above the other. Obviously based on fisho's with boats.

i have a tinny and all i use it for is collecting chook eggs now.

i find shore fishing more enjoyable.

like when i'm in a boat i feel more pressure to catch something , but when shore based i just enjoy the fact that i am out and about ,

no pressure

have to say,

I just cant find the lure of LBF. can spend all day in my boat. soon as I get on the water my smile starts.
don't really care (well probably prefer if I do...lol) whether I come home with a feed or not.

away from people is part of it. (maybe not fishing the right LB spots)

for me ...cant beat being on the water.

Can understand that for sure

But what I missed about LB was the fact that you dont have to do anything other than fish. I didnt realise how much I missed the peace of JUST fishing. No worries about anything to do with the boat. Just sit on a rock or chair, smell the air and cast out. I use artificials almost always so not even a mess with bait. No worries about the deckie getting seasick etc.

Love the boat but love just fishing doing nothing else fun to.

BTW used SPlastic wogs and the hezza went nuts. Deckie used her always trusted "macca's" straw but have to say she was thinking off switching to the wogs. In the cut now anything will get a herring, but I didnt have to switch to the Crazy Charlie fly on the herring rig (couldnt find where I hid them until latter, because this will always be my goto herring lure attached to a blob or cage)

Amazing how many trout fies

I'm continually amazed at the great variety of trout flies that you can use to catch herring on, no wasted time rebaiting they are reasonably priced and IMO really deliver the goods.

I hear ya crasny1.

It can be a bit of a trap you fall into when getting a boat that the land based fishing suffers.

Since getting my own boat 8 or 9 years ago we've stopped doing trips like all nighters down at Tim's Thicket or the beaches North of Lancelin and used to do a lot more exploring in the four wheel drive down South looking for land based spots.

It really hit home to me earlier this year when we went down to Tim's Thicket for a fish with a mate and his fourby, just chasing Herring off the beach with the kids. I realised how much I missed just hanging with a coldy, and watching the sun go down with the sand between your toes.

Still love getting out on the boat and as D_d_001 said, ya can't beat the boat for getting away from the crowds.

Pretty happy to have the choice though. Sometimes it's easy to take it for granted how good a lifestyle we have here in the West and the awesome fishing we can get into, land based or in the boat.

 Love my boat fishing, but

Love my boat fishing, but how good is it when you load up the mrs and kids, a couple of rods and a few beers, park on the beach and enjoy the morning catching herring with bacon and egg sandwiches on the cooker.
