 Don't try to camp anywhere

Sun, 2014-10-26 22:20

Don't try to camp anywhere in wedge or around there.  Rangers are hot up there now. Unless you have a shack.

Some locals there are even reporting those that set up camp next to the shack I have heard.

Tailor about 1km or a little more north there is a reef close to shore....plenty of variety there.
Also about 2km south of south rocks (going towards lancelin) is a spot called Dide bay. Good gutters even mullas caught there.
South rocks also productive. ...hint  100 m south of the south rocks has a great drop off when you cast a little further out....less weed also.

Dhues.... you dont need to go far.  If you go a km or two from the bombing range there are plenty of small lumps in about 12-15m    plenty there.

Post your picks.

Also does the Demersal Ban mean we can't take any Dhuies?  I thought it as just for Snapper?

Mullas fine

Bag limit was reduced not too long ago to 2. Though I have never threatened that lol.

Size limit still 50cm but not really worth keeping that small.

Been some good fish from up north caught over last few weeks. Plenty of Mullas and Sambos, even small sharks of late. Could provide a bit of excitement.

Good luck and put a report up for those of us not lucky enough to be going!

Cheers,

D80

Weather was great for a swim,

Sun, 2014-11-02 20:15

Weather was great for a swim, but the horrendous onshore was a killer. :(  Up and down the coast looking for gutters, the best ones seemed to have copious amounts of seaweed in the worst possible areas.  Couple of the guys went arond a few areas snorkelling and not a sign of anything bigger than baitfish.  Ended up setting up on he point and only got a one nibble he whole time, looked incredibly barren in the water and we spent a fair bit of time swimming and not seeing anything but sand crabs.  Great weekend but unfortunately no pics of fish to write home about...thanks for all the info though.
