I am wanting to take my 2 young kids fishing around the metro area where they/ I will be able to catch something other than blowies. Spent last 2 weekends at mindarie mid morning, and tried Claremont jetty from 4 pm, then also headed to mandurah at the cut, no fish and no crabs. Any help on places and times, bait etc would be greatly appreciated, would love to be able to show the kids something. Thanks in advance. Anything at point Walter mid morning?

Key is burley
Mate Head to almost any beach. Burley up and bread and butter fish will come over. Use premix, or make your own. Add extra oil, and tie a oil sodden rag to a string and let it wash in the surf zone. Always fun getting whiting, but people often cast right over them. They love and feed in the surf zone, so you dont cast to far, and you are sure to get a few to keep the rug rats entertained.
Herring and gardies will also be attracted by the burley. Prawns, mulie bits and fresh squid for bait on small long shank hook. For whiting sand works work a treat aswell.
Good luck
