HID boat spotlights???

Well i am changing the spotlights for the fishing area on the boat to LED's and am now thinking of changing the front facing spotlights on the hardtop, currently i have 2 marine spotties but they chew thru the power, while searching around i noticed on ebay some 55wt HID lights that would mount right in, they have internal ballast so easy to fit and clean and neat.
Has anyone else used something like this or can recommend against? i know they will cop a bit of a ponding, but no different to being on a 4X4.
just thought the HID's will give me more light over a conventional search type marine spotty??

They are good Mako
I do Hid conversions and can tell ya they blow the haligen lights away. Gas lights [High Intensity Discharge] use just that, gas globes and they cannot be broken thru vibration because of no filament as in halogen type. Draw stuff all amps as a bonus. One day they will replace all filament lights imo.
I have noticed that the 6000k which is brighter than sun light is the one i like. On the ute i run 70watt hids through rallie 4's. In one word AWESOME.
