Hmmmm which sounder

G'day all looking at buying a new sounder I got about $2500 max to spend don't really need a plotter function looking at mainly bottom bashing / jigging in the 20 to 30m mark occasionally 40m also thinking about maybe side scan because I hit the creeks during the summer been looking at the hds 10 but starting to research raymarines new cp100 chirp module with a raymarine multifunction screen don't know to much about the chirp set ups yet but have been following vineshs report on the dragonfly with interest but wouldn't mind a bigger screen.

cheers for any info Carry

$2500 hmm yeh no way would you get a dragonfly haha

The Cp100 would be very nice on a Raymarine c97 for about  those $$ but no side scan which would be very helpful for the depths you are talking about and the creeks.

The best sounder for this money would still a Furuno 587 with a 1 kw tranny. and would be good if you are ever going deeper ?

The complete package for this money would be a Hummingbird 1198. Side scan, downscan and HD. I have seen one in action and brilliant for the depths you are talking about! Would be worth a look!

Just a few other options!

5.3m

It's going on a 5.3m trail craft centre console and I live in wickham so not really getting into the deep stuff except maybe the odd trip to exmouth mates got the humminbird but he's still refurbishing his boat so haven't seen it work by all accounts though I have heard good reports just wondering if the furuno unit would be much use in the creeks to much overkill , I don't really know I can't say I know anyone that takes the big furuno gear up the creeks.cheers for the info though lads

cant beat the side / down scan and resolution on the hummingbird
Got a 798 but will upgrade to the 9 or 11; just got to measure the available space on the side console to determine which one :)
It will certainly suit your fishing style

Yep a 1198 would probably be

Yep a 1198 would probably be too big but all the features would be brilliant for your setup i think and you would still be able to go wide if you wanted with the standard 600w tranny.

Whitworths has the 985 for $1699
