honda 200hp fuel consumption

the new Honda is terific ,so quiet and smooth,a normal trip with the old motor 175 fitch ,would be around 90-100 litres, the same trip today sitting on speeds 16-36knot used around 50-60 liters, a massive saving, and the extra wight of the motor made the boat go through the water much nicer Jody was amazed at the differance so in all a great investment anyone looking at repowering i can highly recomend the Honda.

Good speed, saves on fuel and gives you a smoother rise. Can't beat that.

Just for your info I average

Sat, 2009-09-26 21:34

Just for your info I average about 1l per km, obviously depending on seas, people speeds etc it varies but on return to the boat ramp the fuel used { verified of a flow meter and servo top up} equals the gps trip km.

Thats on a 225 Yammy plate ali boat...

Paul do you know what your boat weighs ?????? and I believe yours is glass ????

Cheers ....

Good Donks....

Sun, 2009-09-27 07:15

Yes the 150 is a goody too, I have just come back from Carnarvon after 5 months and the 150 did really well up there, even though the new tub failed badly I was impressed with the Honda. Done over 1200 nm by now and the motor is very economical and hasnt missed a beat. The only thing though is Honda Australia should be doing fixed price servicing as this would make it the premium donk in Aussie.. My hilux services (major) are heaps cheaper than doing just a basic service on the outboard.

Nice

Sun, 2009-09-27 18:12

Its gone from being “ nice boat Paul”
to “Far out....this is *@%#ing AWESOME. “

I’m amazed at how the overall dynamics of the boat have changed. From the way it sits in the water at rest and underway
May as well be a completely different boat
Gotta be happy Paul :)

Good to hear Paul, plenty of advantages but the savings in fuel with 4strokes really help offset the initial dollars spent!

Thanks Jody yes I have been thinking about it today and it is amazing the differance it has made ,the boat sits in the water slightly lower on the water line .she seems to be more stable when drifting ,while traveling you can hear the water passing under the boat ,which you could'nt before, all in all stocked ,with the whole setup.. the savings in fuel over the life of the motor sould cover the up frount cost .
