Hopetoun

Hi
I'm thinking of heading down to Hopetoun or around there. Somewhere between Bremmer Bay and Esperence.
Just pack up the 4X4 and camp on the beach for a few days
Can anybody recommend any spots worth trying down that way?
Apart from Salmon, what else am I likely to encounter?
Thanks

Nah haven't been back down
Nah haven't been back down that way, wont get to for a while either :(
Haven't really been to many places between those spots, but just west of bremer bay is Reef Beach which is a great spot, heaps of salmon always there and big sharks. Would have to be a good spot of mulloway too.. big deep holes and gutters, lots of reef sits out off the beach.

Lived in hopetoun for awhile, you get get Breaksea cod and varios other cod aswell. There are alot of patches along the coast that have reef about 50m out so by fishing between the shore and the reef you pick up a variety of species.

You fishing land based or
You fishing land based or from a boat mate? Am not sure about the boat fishing, but I've spent plenty of time fishing land based down there. Plenty of skippy, herring, whiting, flathead, mulloway and sharks around the place, and the salmon fishing is fantastic at the right time of year.
If you go looking along the coast for rock platforms with deep water you could get anything! Lots of good rock fishing west of Hopetoun.
My granddad lives down near there and has fished the area for at least the last 50 years, he has caught some MASSIVE blue groper off the rocks. Think he uses a heavy handline and crab for bait. God knows how how pulled them in.
Any of the beaches/rocks in the Fitzgerald River National Park or the beaches with reef near the shore east of Hopetoun would be a good option, and don't forget the rivers - plenty of black bream down there.

Thanks for the tip.
Checked it out on Google, looks like a great spot.
Any idea of how to get there?
Are the tracks through Fitzgerald well signposted?
