There is a boat ramp in horrocks.
Not the best ramp but better than beach launches.

No boat ramp at Horrocks.
No boat ramp at Horrocks. Its beach launch. But it goes from bitumen carpark, to bit of gravel, to beach.
Sand is usually hard so not bad for bogging.
Surge can be annoying at times, but time it right and its ok.
If there is a big tide and big swell it gets over the main outer reef and hence chops up the lagoon a wee bit.
Sometimes get alot of weed that can be shitm hit should be OK this time of year.
Alternatively can tow you boat up to little bay, north of town about 3kms or so along a Sandy 4wd track and launch there. Just have your 4wd tyres down and toeing a big boat is fine.
Never fished it this time of year out of a boat so dont know how it is. But generally speaking you dont hsve to go far past the main reef to be on the dominant drop off to start getting Dhuis, Pinkies and other stuff. Sometimes get Longtail Tune and Spanish Macks.
Look for the drop of in about 18-25m.

There is a bank between
There is a bank between Little Bay and Port Gregory if you look at nautical charts. Off the mouth of the Hutt River.
Have heard this can fish well.
I usually launch from town head out the gap in the reef (note on a low tide and large swell this gap can close out) and head south of town as the drop off is closer in and more defined and when the sea breeze comes in i can come back in with it.
I know speaking to guys with bigger boats that go out further they find isolated reefs and lumps about 6 mile out and get good Dhuis and Coral Trout.
You staying at the Caravan Park or the Beachside Cottages?

Yeah the bitumen carpark
Yeah the bitumen carpark with the gravel ramp leading into the drink is what i call the ramp. Where most boats launch. Better than a true beach launch. Good luck. Beautiful place.

Horrocks
If there is too much of a surge you are better off launching in the whitting pools(South end of the bay near the point)......just watch the tide as the beach can be pretty soft.

Horrocks
I've never been into Horrocks, but now that it's been mentioned here and having look at it on google maps, the place looks awesome. Is it possible to launch a 6.2m fibreglass boat there? Is the beach launch good enough to be able to do that without getting bogged or putting the tow vehicle in the water?
