Try near Boy In A Boat reef
There are plenty out that way. Any old bait will do, however, I would use mulies as you can catch some pretty good fish there. A strong leader helps when the stingrays run you onto the reef.
I would also take some squid jigs as there are usually a few squid there close to dusk.

I got one yesterday
Good size ray put up a fight off Quinns Beach. I wasn't tryin for it. When my drag went spastic I thought I was onto a big fish of some sort but once I got it close to shore we could see it was a ray. I was using squid with just a basic hook n dropped sinker. A valuable lesson was learned. I ended up losing it just as I was pulling it onto tha beach because I didn't do a good enough knot on my hook line. I was using a twistie at first and when I changed my rig over I rushed my knots just wanting to get back in tha water. I figured I wouldnt get much more than herring so why bother with a stronger knot. Like I said LESSON LEARNED!!!!

That is the problem with rays
At first you think you have a good fish on and you soon relaise it is a bloody ray.

big ones
Depends if u get the bigguns at hillareys, 25lb might do but had a mate almost spooled tonight with 400m of 80lb braid at north beach. Seen him land some big rays as well but this beast was huge, just kept runing with no sign of slowing down till it did him on reef way way out.
Has been said b4 on here but fish heads work grat for rays, stops the pickers destroying ya bait
Good luck, ppl dont rate rays but they can be alot of fun (in moderation) I reckon
