i broke up with my tackle box
Submitted by JIM1 on Mon, 2011-06-13 20:15
ive got to the point now where i have, dare i say, too much tackle to fit in my tackle bag.
now when i go fishing i go to my shed and make up kits for what i need for the outing. i use the large plastic storage boxes. i have quite a few of them and they are sorted all neatly into sections, one for lead one for hooks etc etc. i then limit myself by only taking (usually) one large box, and go "shopping" as such through my gear to make up the box i need for the day, pre tie all my rigs and what not. packing light is the plan.
how do you lot do it? boxes, bags, buckets?

I used to have a very wet tinny, so I use a nylex crate with a lid, its great!
* Cheap
* Easy to keep the gear dry
* You don't have to waste time putting everything back in exactly the right place
* 100 times tougher than a tackle box
* Did I mention its cheap?

I have various boxes for each
I have various boxes for each fishing style...
Spinning, popping, jigging, trolling, etc. And the one bag for leader, spare hooks/trebles, rings, swivels etc...
But nothing beats the 'bucket topper' my partner bought me which is a tackle box that fits on any standard bucket lol. Use it for squidding and catching bait. I think its made by plano... It gets the Most use

Same problem - half the
Same problem - half the garage is tackle. I guess that is the fun part associated with rec fishing, taking your time to choose and setup traces in preparation for the day out. Certain fishing, areas calls for different traces, sinkers ect ect - I take at least an hour, maybe 2 in prep for the day out. Start with the reels, rods, then lines, traces, sinkers and the add on's associated with it. That goes into my backpack and it will tag along.
Flip side of the coin is when you get back home - the sorting, washing and lube of all the equipment - take just as much pleasure with this as well.

Bank Coin Bags
I use Bank coin bags for all my terminal rigs. No cost just tell the bank you have some coint o count. Have many made up in the garage and take what I need for the type of fishing. Have larger Glad zip bags to carry them in my backpack. It is amazing how many rigs you can make up on day like today.
Still take my tackle box with tools/lures etc. If beach fishing leave tackle box in car and only take down bare min needed.

Old back pack with the small
Old back pack with the small planno style trays. Then I use the rig wallets from berlely for pre tied rigs. Back pack allows pliers, tools, leader and tackle easy to carry and takes up bugger all room.
