I finaly upgraded my boat

Hi Crew,  After having my little tinny for over ten years i sold it yesterday and used the money as a deposit on another boat.

5.8m centre console with a 115 saltwater series Yammy.

It needs a bit of work as it's been sitting around for 18 months in the weather. But i should be able to fix any problems in my factory and tidy it up a bit.

Now i can finaly get out a bit wider and take someone that weighs more than 60kg lol.

Cheers Grant

Nice rig....is the Yamaha a bit low though? looks like it could be raised a bit,  like my long shaft 25 on my 12ft tinny, the prop is too far under but good for chucking "wheelies" on small waves and chop :)

Not sure

Fri, 2011-07-22 16:09

Not sure Fathom, She definately has been used and tested. My nephew has been out on it a few times and say's it hammers.

It might look low because the boat hull sits down low on the trailer. ( below the wheels as the trailer is a V shape across the axle )

Either way i'll find out soon and having my own steel fab factory im sure i can sort out any probs with her.

Cheers Grant

looks the goods mate, that'd be a great dive/spear boat. Those 115 Yammy 2 strokes are very thirsty but for $15k you're starting a long way infront

Looks like a steal for 15k, looks like a more than capable CC and perfect size for towing up north. motor height looks fine from the pic maybe just a bit hard to see the keel because of reflection. Yam 2st, Like tim said they can be thirsty but wen looked after they're also bullet proof

Great input

Fri, 2011-07-22 20:35

Thanks crew, great input. I didn't know much about the Yammy's.

Small world, the guy that sold me the rig saw this thread and sent me a text.

(The hull was made in Jervouise bay WA. And is a Dassen build.)

Very happy with the buy and will be out there soon ( Thanks Kim )

Cheers Grant.

PS.. Normaly launch from Mindarie. And Point Peron.

Yep! 15K for that rig is an absolute bargain mate! Well done! I saw a very similar rig forsale at Sports Marine in Bunbury for 60K. Dead set serious!

I can tell that rig will ride well with the centre console being in the middle of the boat rather than forward and with a motor with just the right weight to get her up on the plain. Also you got a bonus getting her on a dual axel trailer as a boat that size is boarder line between dual and single axle. Gives you the added confidence when towing on long journeys.

grant.make sure on that

Sat, 2011-07-23 07:39

grant.

make sure on that engine you use the yammay oil and not the cheaper shit, the 200 we had was the same engine (saltwater series 2) its the one that dropped a crank bearing at 340hrs, even after the engine had a full insection before buying, yer there was other things involed but maybe due to the cheaoer oil it could not handle the extra load??

a member on here that knows all about them told me it is well worth the extra coin for the yammy oil and it might of saved our engine????? best to do as much as poss now mate.

see you out there some time

Good advice

Sat, 2011-07-23 11:29

Thanks fisho-ron, I will take your advice, i don't mind paying a few extra bucks for peace of mind to prevent future problems.

Seb - The boat was offered to my nephew by a friend and he put me onto it. It had to be sold so i didnt hesitate at that price.

Cheers Grant
