Hey guys in the market for a new pe5 jigging rod for sambos amberjack and ytk. I have been using a 400gram jigging master power spell and owns every fishhh but bit of a broom stick compares to whats out there now. Veryyyy short rods though so wondering what length are all you lads using for your heavier jigging say  180 to 350 gram jigss???

180 to 350 is a pretty big

180 to 350 is a pretty big range.

For 180-260 I like my Smith AMJ52H. I had one inexplicably explode on me but I like the rod so much I bought another one the next day.

What's your budget? Overhead or spin?

When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:

n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or

n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

Jigging Master Evo Titanium

Fri, 2013-09-27 15:26

Jigging Master Evo Titanium 300 is a nice stick.

But you'd probably get away with the 250.

Or Synit Razar 300 if you can get your hands on one...

They rate the Razar 250 up to

Fri, 2013-09-27 16:11

They rate the Razar 250 up to 380grams in any case so that might be the better match for what you are chasing than the 300.

Otherwise Oceanside have a sale on at the moment and I am pretty sure they have those JMs there (they had the overheads there the other day at least)

Yeah I'll be out chasing snapper at least once this weekend too, gotta get a couple more sessions in.

Vanuatu is end of November but Eiao is now only 3 weeks from yesterday so getting pretty pumped. Was packing last night :-)

Jigging rods

Mon, 2013-09-30 12:33

Everyone has their own favourites with jigging. Longer rods will offer higher movement through the water column with less movement on the lower part of the rod but give away alot of fish fighting power. Shorter rods do require a little bit more effort to make the jig work a comparative length to a longer rod but you gain alot of turning power against larger fish like Sambo's. All of us here prefer shorter rods as sambo's are not the fussiest fish in the sea and will eat a jig whether its moving 30cm or 1m through the water column.

As Dan mentioned we do stock the Jigging Master rods and the Evolution Titanium is an awesome series of jig sticks. The 300g rod is quite ideal and we sell quite a few. We will get these back into stock hopefully soon. They stand at 5ft.

Another option is the Temple Reef F9 spin. Its a true PE5-6 rod and stands a touch longer at just under 5'6". These are a nice light sambo jig stick that use quality Fuji components. The Blank is made in Japan and then sent with the components to the states to have the components hand bulit on. We have one of these in stock at the moment if you wanted to look at one.

Cheers
