Jinkai

I usually use jinkai for my leaders, but saw jinkai plus in the shop the other day?

is this one better?

anyone used it?

Just reading up on it, apparantly its not as supple as jinkai but is clearer?

Cheers

Yeah, jinkai plus is tougher

Yeah, jinkai plus is tougher so not as flexible as the normal jinkai. More like the black magic stuff. The jinkai plus is good for reefy, rocky or shark etc fishing

I like Jinkai    (prob cause

I like Jinkai    (prob cause it's got japanese writing - so it must be good) lol

I use the plus for the hook length , it seems to help stop twisting around the leader.

If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.

Used Jinkai alot in the far

Used Jinkai alot in the far past but like others found it not very abrasion resistant especially for landbased fishing. Nice and soft for tying knots though. The Jinkai Plus i found to be better abrasion resistance but a little stiff for my liking, bit like the black magic stuff. I pretty much use Schneider Klear Line/Leader for all my traces and wind on leaders now though. Just my personnel preference though. Others will have their favourites too. Give it a try and see if you like it.

Jinkai

Jinkai plus (red spool) has a slightly higher abbrasion resistence compared to the traditional stuff (green spool) as mentioned.

We've been using Jinkai plus for many years and its a popular leader. Lately we've been using the new Extreme mono trace line and its basically identical to the Jinkai Plus 50m spool stuff but value for money its cheaper and more line ie 100m.

20lb - 60lb its $16.95 & 80lb -120lb its $17.95 (then less FW discount)

 I've found with the Jinkai

Wed, 2012-07-18 15:52

I've found with the Jinkai gear that it kinks too easy.  If you make a b bouncing rig or just a leader it bends and kinks very easily, and the rig will never lit quite right.  Too soft for me.

I haven't used the Red one though

I've used HI-SEAS Grand Slam

Mon, 2012-07-23 19:43

I've used HI-SEAS Grand Slam mono leader a bit and found it great. The stuff I've got is 130lb and I just use crimps, works well.Use the double crimp and blob the end of the leader with a lighter.Admittedly I was using it just for surf gummies (hadn't previously used that heavy) but after a couple of fish on a rocky beach there was little wear and tear.I tried Jinkai in the past but it was too soft and damn expensive.
