Job Keeper

So who got stung by the ATO with there new payg payments ?

Mongrels give with one hand tell you to spend up and then smash you the next year with tax , no wonder the country is f&^ked with pin heads like scomo running it.

Mate pulled 20k out and paid

Fri, 2021-07-02 12:58

Mate pulled 20k out and paid some bills down.
His justification was government can and does change the rules whenever they feel like it so may as well use it to help himself out.

Hard to really argue against it

Pulled super and purchased gold, you don't pay capital gains on gold investments.

Just googled this up on an Australian gold bullion site,

You may be required to pay capital gains tax if your investment grade bullion has a greater value at the time of sale compared to the value at the time of purchase. However, sales of investment grade bullion do not attract GST.

 Thats the same as any

Thats the same as any investment? If you sell it for more than you bought it for allowing for the costs, you pay capital gains at your marginal rate.

Similar GST-don't pay GST buying and selling shares either

 Thankfully never used job

Fri, 2021-07-02 10:17

Thankfully never used job keeper but copped a nice tax bill from last year. It always concerns me when my accounts starts off by saying "Well you had a really good year last year ''

I know the patio guys near me claimed big time on job keeper by not submitting any invoices. I reckon they'll be having a few headaches with the tax man. He will always get his cut.

My missus got overpaid this

Fri, 2021-07-02 11:15

My missus got overpaid this year which has pushed us over the Medicare Surcharge Levy threshold and we now have to pay an extra 1% tax each... ouch!

Time to bite the bullet and get hospital cover especially if any of us do require elective surgery under with Labors farcical hospital system.

Yeah mate, I've got gold

Fri, 2021-07-02 11:32

Yeah mate, I've got gold cover for extras including dental, optometrist, massage, psychology, physio/chiro etc but only private hospital cover exempts you from the Medicare Surcharge Levy.

It's just private hospital cover we dumped to cut costs when the Mrs feel preggas while we were building our house and never picked it back up. I've been rather lucky in the public system with my elective meniscus and then ACL surgeries as well as my bicep tendon rupture which is treated as trauma surgery rather than elective.

I had to use my top hospital

Fri, 2021-07-02 12:56

I had to use my top hospital a few months ago after lack of joy in the public system. Fairly straight forward gall bladder removal turned into 2 surgeries and went straight up over 15k over a few days. It's one of those things you don't need for ages and then you really do.

Here you go folks

Fri, 2021-07-02 11:39

in the last 7 months my bill from hospitals is 80k all paid by HBF and that’s without hospital accommodation costs, no waiting access to specialists, worth every penny.

 My employer claimed

Fri, 2021-07-02 13:10

My employer claimed JobKeeper for all of us and then had a bumper year! Hope they make him pay back every cent! We had a 25% salary reduction for about 4 months and then he begrudgingly put our pays back up. In December we got paid half of the reduction back and last week we got the other half. It took months of battling to get that paid back.

We've got top hospital and major dental and in the last 5 years had 2 knee miniscus resections, wife had 2 toe operations and a "lady's surgery", and then in  December I got my shoulder reconstructed after I fucked it up in the gym. Cost me $78.

Sun, 2021-07-04 18:25

I work for a Council and we were asked to vote to adjust our agreement to forgo our 2% payrise this year fir the greater good which we did.

Since then we've seen Councillors hold red carpet social dos where they are supposed to be networking with community leader/groups etc but just invite family and friends to a weekly Fri night dinner with chef prepared food and an open bar.

Proper kick in the teeth.
