Jurien snapper in close?

Work has fortunately landed Me in Jurien for a while and the fishing has been good. All of my trips have been in close fishing 10 to 20m and regulary produce good size dhuies and breaksea. But for some reason I can't seem to catch any size snapper the rigs im using is a paternoster with snelled 5o's and floater baits out back. If anyone can help with tips on what I'm doing right or wrong it would be much appreciated thanks (bait is mulies and squid and just started experimenting with plastic)

 Well I completely 100%

Well I completely 100% disagree with that statement. Snapper are a great target species and very good on the plate as well. I wouldn't like to be on the boat watching someone cut one up for bait that's for sure. Pretty retarded comment really.

Mate I use two snelled 4/0

Tue, 2013-08-20 19:27

Mate I use two snelled 4/0 octopus hooks with a very small ball sinker between the hooks. If you can, try to catch some fresh bait of the jetty there - yellowtail, whiting, scalies or slimies are all good and will increase your chances ten fold.

 What people choose to do

Tue, 2013-08-20 19:37

What people choose to do with size fish is their perogative... If they want to cut it up for strip bait, they don't have to explain themselves or deserve to be called childish names bud...that like saying someone who catches squid and then uses it for bait to catch pinkies is a clown also... I'd be more than happy to send down a pink strip and pull up a red, do it regularly... Pull ur head in mate, if all u get is pinks and that's the best table fish u got, worst luck for u

No mate that's not how it

Tue, 2013-08-20 20:14

No mate that's not how it is. Old mate asks for some help catching pinks and he gets told not to waste his time on them. I didn't call anyone childish names, just said I disagreed with a retarded comment. Now you're making them as well...

I think any colour bare hooks work. The secret is just throw a little bit of mullie or squid on the pointy end ;)

 I have had some success

Fri, 2013-08-23 09:33

I have had some success lately on the pinky's, and all caught with a mulie on a gang with a small bean sinker. And they have been pretty decent fish too, the biggest being 92cm and 82cm. The 82cm i didn't freeze and ate fresh, and i can tell you it was the best fish i have eaten.....

good luck
